Did some #DotPainting the last couple of nights. :) Made a little metallic blue and gold magnet, and also got started on a new larger stone with a flower-like design on it. Still trying to figure out the rest of the colours. :thinking_rotate:

A small round half-sphere painted stone. The centre at the top is a gold circle, with radiating lines of gold dots, gold swooshes, and metallic blue swooshes arcing down to the bottom rim. It's glossed up and very shiny. Only about an inch and a half in diameter.

An in progress dot painted stone. It's round and flat-ish, painted black, and covered in white and yellow guidelines drawn on with watercolour pencil. There's an eight-pointed geometric flower or star design made with small silver dots drawn on the grid, with the points of each "petal" filled with metallic swooshes in either green or teal. There's a large silver dot in the centre.

And the second stone is a little one I made for myself, a "worry stone" to replace my old one which I gave to a friend.

This stone features thick dollops of gloss glaze on top of the dot shapes forming a raised/textured surface that is wonderfully tactile and lovely to rub your fingers over. It turns the stones into lovely little fidget toys or meditation tools.

Anyway, I'm really fond of this one! It feels wonderful to hold and to fidget with. It uses some of my favourite colours, too. :da_grin:

A small oval-shaped dot painted art stone, held loosely in my hand. The design is a rather simple or "classic" dot painted design, with a large centre dot and radiating circles of dots and teardrop designs surrounding it in colours of metallic pink, pale apple green, white, and metallic gold painted on a black background.

The stone held on an angle to the light, showing off the raised glossed bumps complementing the dots painted on its surface.

I have a couple dot paintings to share with you today! The first one I finished up last week sometime, a rather detailed one with colours and patterns inspired by Princess Jasmine from the Disney movie "Aladdin". :da_boogie:

I really like the blue/turquoise patterns in this one. The gold shapes on the outside were an experiment, but they're also kind of neat! :mandala:

A photo of the stone before it's decorated, simply painted black. It's sitting on a small turntable, and is covered in chalky white grid lines, with a sketchy triquetra drawn using the grid lines as a guide. Other than the grid lines, the triquetra was free-handed.

The copper swooshes of the side band have been started; they're shiny and still wet.

The band has been finished with antique bronze swooshes to complement the copper ones. The arms of the triquetra dot on top still haven't been filled.

Slowly playing around with simple celtic knots. A triquetra, or Trinity Knot, for this one. I'll put some WIP pics in the replies for anyone interested.

Another one I'm pretty pleased with. :) This one was given to our good friend @neilk. :hearthands:

A round, dome-shaped plaster rock painted black then decorated with a three-pointed celtic knot called a "triquetra". The knot's lines are drawn with gold pen and filled in with metallic gold dots. The interior of each of the three points has a dark red swoosh design inside. There's a bright metallic red red dot at the centre.

I was playing around with sketching petal shapes on a grid, and thought this looked a lot like an echeveria or other kind of succulent, so I ran with it. :D

Really pleased with this one! 🪴 :da_grin: The whole design and colours just fill me with joy. ☺️

A quick post and run… a couple of dot painted stones I made in the last week. The first one was just a free-handed geometric pattern I drew on the initial grid, and the second features pastel colours chosen by a friend of mine. The pattern for that one wasn't planned or anything, it just came out as I went.

(I playfully call the design in the second one "Pastel Butt-Stuff". X) I'm such a child, haha. :da_sweat: )

This was a fun one! 🤩 Love the way the pattern turned out, and the colours! I'll have to try this design again someday…

(I made a silly error when glossing it that resulted in some surface imperfections, but they're not very noticeable, thankfully! And I learned what to avoid for next time. :da_sweat: )

AmandalaRocks posted a video where she painted this stone a couple weeks ago, and I had just received my own "sphere" mold, so I thought I'd give it a go! (And even though I was using the same mold, the same tools, the same paints, etc., my measurements/tool sizes were all off compared to hers… oof. x__x Not sure what went wrong there! I guess I wasn't exact enough with my dot placement… I need more practice!)

I hadn't done a stone with this many dots in such close, regular quarters as this before, and I think it shows. ^^; Hers is much more regular and clean. Not to mention, this was the first time I tried out my own handmade paint cones for the tiny accent dots in such large quantities, and yeah, I wasn't the best at it… they're all over the place. :da_sweat:

A large, spherical dot painted stone sits on a wooden tabletop. Its surface is covered in rows of hundreds of small metallic white dots radiating down from a large centre gold dot at the top. Each row the dots get slightly bigger, until past the widest point, where they get smaller again. Some of the white dots are painted metallic gold in a pattern that makes a cascading diamond design. It's busy, but the regular placement of the dots makes for a pleasing pattern when taken in at once.

Wanted to paint but was low on creative energy, so I just filled in the grid lines with metallic paint. Inspired again by one of AmandalaRocks' designs on YouTube. Mine's not exactly the same, but the idea is! So many thanks to her for it. I like the result, so I'll probably do this again with different colours/patterns someday. :da_grin:

The tea light holder design was inspired by one of AmandalaRocks' designs, but I don't think I executed it very well. I'm happy with how the outer gold elements turned out, though! Still trying to figure out how I'm going to incorporate paint pens into my practice.

Added a layer of silver highlights to the swooshes, to add some extra shininess. :D It's probably a bit too much, "gilding the lily," as they say, but it was fun anyway! All varnished up, too, so it's *done* done. :da_phew:

The finished mandala stone. It's a flat, oval "stone", cast from plaster, and painted with a black background. Painted on top is a geometric flower pattern lined with lots of small silver dots, with eight "petals", coloured with metallic white, blue, and turquoise "swooshes". There's a large, silver "dot" in the centre. The edges are also decorated with half-circle swooshes in metallic lavender and sky blue. The swooshes and other parts have been embellished with silver highlights. The stone itself has been varnished, making it all shiny in addition to the metallic shimmer.
