Barney the cat, a Manx cat, sitting in a rather dark stairwell. He looks likes he is snarling but that’s kinda how he looks on account of him losing a bunch of teeth a while back. Anyway last Thursday we noticed he was sleeping a lot more than usual, was very sluggish and not his usual “oh you’re a standing human wonderful come feed me immediately!” So we went to the vet on Saturday. We ruled out a UTI & there wasn’t any visible blockage nor a lot of doodoo in my man’s chute (yet vet animal health warning and stuff sorry sorry!). Vet loaded him with steroids & fluids. He’s improved a lot but isn’t 100% ya know? But this morning when I picked him up he was kind of aware but limp whereas this afternoon when he’d eaten & drank a good bit of water I picked him up then and there was that normal body tension of his. Being semi feral he’s not totally used to being held but my kiddo cured him of that! God I love her so much. So great with animals. Anyway… he’s doing better but my vet wants him to get some ultrasounds done because of stuff he’s seeing there which indicates the Big C. Yeah so I realized I am very attached to this guys life & him being around for a long while. This really scared the crap out of me. Seeing him drink water again reduced me to tears. Yeah I’m. a proud mamas boy, way over sensitive, loves cats & dogs but grew up with cats. God love em. Barney is also my dad’s cat & that’s a whole bother level Xo CRT

Nice & cool here today I opened my office window. Later my wife noted the screen was up & Barney escaped of course. I ran outside to calmly call him & heard an angry squirrel nearby. As I followed the squirrel sounds I heard the gentle tinkle of a cat collar. Barney was emerging from the neighbors yard.
