Heute dann mal endlich die roten Bamberger von #Minitrix programmiert... Und siehe da, die Schlusslichter gehen nicht. Also, #Umtausch Irgendwie habe ich jetzt zwei mal Minitrix Zeugs gekauft und zwei mal umtauschen müssen. Bin eher mäßig begeistert... Dann doch wieder Kato.

Seit über 30 Jahren unbenutzt im Keller. Ich denke, so langsam sollte ich mich davon trennen. #minitrix

Seit dem fährt sie auch wieder.

@ronaldb66 I actually started (after 35 years) with my old #Minitrix tracks but once I learned about Unitrack, I switched to that. The base plate is rather small and the switches I use here (718mm) are too long. Will have to exchange these for 481mm switches if I want to keep within that base plate dimension.

The great thing about Kato Unitrack is that you can quickly set up a layout on the floor and have a few hours fun without the need to have it fixed to something. I always envied the H0 people for being able to do so.

Minitrix 12834 N gauge model

A second hand model I bought recently. It's a Class BBII 0-4-4-0 Mallet loco as used on the Königlich Bayerische Staatseisenbahnen from 1901 onwards.

Since my model railroad project is going to be a long-term thing, I'm taking my time getting used to basic stuff like building cardboard ramps to play with steepness levels. Old packaging is very useful for that.

I'm only experimenting right now, not even prototyping anything. But the eventual track layout slowly comes together in my head.

I'm still not sure wether or not to use those #Minitrix tracks. I really fancy that #Kato #UniTrack with the grey roadbed. But it's quite costy and I already have those Minitrix tracks from ages ago.

@LaurentFr I'm currently just playing around with SCARM, having a nice sunday evening. Still, I'm tempted to get a small DCC starter kit and add the few #Minitrix parts I have left form decades ago.

The layout I'm currently tinkering with can be seen below. I call it 'branch line' and it's really just an initial spark of an Idea.I live in the lower Rhine area and try to pick up on the things I see when travel by train through the rural areas around here.
