For those people caught on this train with hopes of catching connections, things are not going well. We've stopped in the middle of nowhere, and are waiting for something unknown. Every small delay narrows their chances of getting the next train.

I doubt they'd find any consolation in knowing we stopped next to covered asparagus fields. I love eating asparagus.

I retire at the end of this month.

While I will still be travelling regularly, I will definitely not miss the delays and cancellations that have effected my work over the last three years. The 05.17 out again today, because the train wasn't ready in time. Travelling in on the 05.45, with my plans for the day messed up yet again.

And those who carry on working can look forward to massive delays soon, as the Hamburg-Hannover line is repaired and updated.

Booking multi operators #train journey in the #EU surely needs improvements. We all know that.

Each major national train operator booking system privileges its own trains. The most efficient multi operators solutions are simply left out.

I had to use three different booking systems to find the best solution for one round trip journey. Within the same nation.

Today's historic photo of the day: A 'Grey Ghost' converted Harris #train departs from the terminus at Port Melbourne, Vic, June 8, 1987.

Port Melbourne is located on Port Phillip Bay just 4km south-west of central Melbourne. Originally known as Sandridge, being on the bay, Port Melbourne became the major shipping port for Melbourne as it could accommodate ships too large to navigate the Yarra River into Melbourne itself.

Partial Line 1 closure related to icy, wet weather
OC Transpo interim general manager Troy Charter said the weather is a factor in a stopped train that has closed Line 1 between uOttawa and Blair stations. A broken cable can be seen on a train near Lees station.
