This lunchtime I walked past Sainsbury’s. A black guy was playing a calypso version of Once in Royal David’s City on steel drums as an Asian woman dropped some money in his hat. Nearby a Just Eat delivery man had propped his bicycle and bag against a bench and was on his knees, saying his prayers.
Most people just walked past clutching their meal deals and Greggs vegan ‘festive bakes’. Because that’s modern Britain. Live and let live.
