So the CD player we ordered 6 weeks ago finally arrived and we love it! It's the Moondrop Discdream 2 and we've done a few tests so far and are very pleased.
We tried our phone with our headphones against the CD player and the CD player won by a landslide. As this was the argument in our head, "Why get a CD player? Just use your phone!"
The next test was using our Focusrite DAC with the CD player plugged into the it via 3.5mm jack. The sound was wonderful but in a test of that verses the onboard DAC on the CD player both @foxxy and I preferred the CD player.
Now we are just waiting on some 3.5mm optical adapters so we can try it with our soundbar but so far I'm very pleased!

One thing that's nice about being in a tech office again is that I can get casual recommendations again. I mentioned that my little soundblaster amp couldn't drive my beyerdynamic dt 770s from my phone, and since the S21 Ultra doesn't have a headphone jack, that really sucks. I download my music like an old person and listen to it via Nextcloud Music, so it's a real shame that I can't listen to music at work. My coworker suggested I buy the moondrop USB-C amp, and let me use his for the day, and it was so great, even though it was €50, I bought one as soon as my paycheck arrived. My work does reimbursement of office equipment up to €200, so I also get that money back. Look at the size of it too. It's larger than I'm used to, but honestly, the best thing I've used without going much larger.
My only negative but goofy comment is, "omg, it comes in a tin with an anime girl on it...".
I decided to buy a wired IEM for listening while on the go.
I've been interested in KZ products for a while now. I was almost going to buy the KZ ZSN Pro X, but while looking around I saw this device called the Moondrop Chu 2. It's both more elegant and almost the same price. When I looked on Reddit, people discussed about it quite a bit. Do you have any recommendations between these two, or for something else?
