The best thing about the #MosconiCup is that when all the shouting is done, and when the inevitable anticlimax has passed, we can.finally look forward to the glory of the #DerbyCityClassic One Pocket division.

11-3 win for Europe over America in the Mosconi Cup and it seemed like there wasn't a single match that didn't feature an American rattling the ball against a corner pocket at some point.
Deserved, fairly easy win for our lot again but it would be better for the sport if these things were closer.
Europe with an 8-3 lead heading into day three of the Mosconi (first to 11) and nice to see an even split of wins and losses today after yesterday's mauling. But for a couple of balls this could've been even closer as a scoreline.
America might be heading towards defeat in the Mosconi but they're shoo-ins for the inaugural but definitely prestigious and not crappy at all Foot Shooting Prize that I understand is a new thing that FIFA have brought into all sports worldwide this year somehow.
In the Mosconi we've come to the conclusion that the top right corner pocket has been cursed by a gypsy who was wronged by an American. They really should avoid it.
Thorpe for the Americans and Alcaide for the Europeans really have the right "let's have fun" attitude for this Mosconi tournament. Great to see the US get another point on the board and delay the inevitable.
The Mosconi crowd are a fucking disgrace. There's not an ounce of sportsmanship in any of them.
Tyler should still have potted that ball. Can't believe this has happened to him again.
Mosconi commentators frequently having to apologise for bad language. I mean, what do you expect when you mic up a bunch of men playing team sports and listen in?
Anyway, it'll be good to see if America really can get themselves "on the fucking board" soon.
America cannot catch a break in the Mosconi this year. I feel so bad for their team but it seems like they're overthinking everything and trying too hard not to lose when they should be playing their natural game and trying to win.
It's #MosconiCup time again and this year it's being held in Alexandra Palace. A bit of a step up from York Hall where we went to watch the annual tournament a couple of times many years ago.
Europe certainly have had the beating of America in this over the last few years but a couple of rookies compared to all veterans in Team USA might make for a closer contest.
For #ThrowbackThursday here's our visit to watch the #MosconiCup tournament at York Hall, London in 2002. It was broadcast live and our seats for this session meant we were on TV a lot as family pointed out afterwards.
In blue are two German players for Europe, Ortmann and Souquet. Near us is USA with Jones standing and the mad genius Earl Strickland seated. Michaela Tabb refereeing.
It was so hot under those lights. Great event, though.
Video of that bizarre not-a-pot in the #MosconiCup
Surprised to find the #MosconiCup still going. Switched over to it just in time to see one of the most bizarre non-pots ever. The ball went down the pocket but seemed to have so much spin on it that it spun itself back up the interior of the pocket and onto the table. Some kid's reaction in the crowd looked like it would make a great meme for "WTF!?"
Quick search to see if anyone's watching the #MosconiCup and, nope. Just me a year ago, and likely just me this year too. A lone, annual 9-ball pool competition fan on this big, wide Fediverse.
What idiot thought it was a good idea for the #SnookerShootOut and the #MosconiCup to be on the exact same weekend, and fight for the viewerbase in the evenings?
Now, obviously this is Mastodon and Mastodon is not where you'd go if you wanted to talk about #sports normally, but since we're currently watching #9BallPool and will soon be watching #RugbyLeague on Sky Sports, I thought I'd mention that my wife and I - and we're somewhat camera-shy - were once live on Sky Sports while attending the 2002 Mosconi Cup in London and for a while there was video evidence of it on YouTube. So there. #MosconiCup
