Now that we've handed over @mucConf to next year's chairs, I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who's been kind, thoughtful, and helpful over the course of the conference. #muc2024 #muc2025

Okokok, Podiumsdiskussion beim #MuC2024 it is!

Für mich war die Erfahrung auch auffällig: Direkt nach dem Vortrag dann zur Podiumsdiskussion zu hüpfen war dann für mein #adhs Hirn doch bissl viel. Oft hatte ich kleine Aussetzer, wo mir die Antworten ausblieben oder musste öfters immer nachfügen, wenn die Runde fertig war.

I mean, alle sagten meine Leistung war gut, aber y'know.

Nach der Präsentation war direkt die Podiumsdiskussion (wo auch @pascoda moderierte! :D) zu (In-)#Accessibility in Academia. Die Fragen hatte ich vorab bekommen & konnte vorher die Antworten schon niederschreiben.

Bevor ich hier aber zu spame - anyone interested, dass ich bissl auch darüber erzähle? 👀

Dienstag war meine Präsentation zu diesem Paper (https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3670653.3670670) - die enge Zusammenarbeit mit meiner Dolmetscherin war SO ausschlaggebend, weswegen ich zum ersten Mal sagen konnte: Präsentation verlief gut.

I'm glad about that. :)

& auch: wie groß war der Raum bitte, wo ich präsentieren musste??? damn!!!

Ich war diese Woche in Karlsruhe um die Konferenz #MuC2024 um dort mein Paper zu präsentieren.

Es ist wild, dass ich wieder(???) ein Paper auf einer wissenschaftlichen Konferenz präsentieren konnte. Die Aufregung und Imposter-Syndrome bleibt gleich, aber ich merke mit jedes Mal wird es ein kleines bisschen besser.

Alright, I'm on the train home, which feels like the conclusion to my #MuC2024 @mucConf attendance. 🙂 It was a lot of fun again this year and I gotta make sure I can attend again in 2025.

My conferece schedule this time was noticeably workshop-heavy. That's in pretty stark contrast to back when I started going to MuC, when I didn't know anyone in the community and just went to all the paper sessions by default. At the cost of seeing fewer paper presentations, the workshops were wonderful!

Finished up my #MuC2024 conference lunch, heading back to the hotel next and then to the train station. 🙂 Next year's #MuC2025 feat. @tucmi should be cool, looking forward to the organizers' ideas that were hinted at in the closing session.

#MuC2024 is coming to an end. However, after #muc2024 is before #muc2025. See you in Chemnitz!
P.S.: Chemnitz will also be European Capital of Culture 2025.

Last #MuC2024 day! Today's the only paper session I'm able to catch, and it is the one with the most co-authors active on here:

* “Beyond Textbooks: A Study on Supporting Learning of Molecule Naming in a Virtual Reality Environment” co-authored by @viktoriaPammerSchindler
* “Hands-free Selection in Scroll Lists for AR Devices” co-authored by @svenmayer
* “Tick-tock: Revisiting the Influence of Zeitgebers and Cognitive Load on Time Judgments during and after VR Immersion” co-authored by @flarion

My last #MuC2024 activity of the day (I skipped the evening socializing) was this panel on (in-)accessibility of academia: https://muc2024.mensch-und-computer.de/en/dei-a-panel/ co-run by @pascoda and with @lavolsky on stage among others. It covered a lot of interesting ground that I'm finding tough to summarize, but the panelists bounced off each other very well. @mariawolters live-posted a more play-by-play style commentary if you'd like to read some details.

Now: sleep. Tomorrow: paper session "Immersive Realities". 🙂

Our little meetup @muc2024meetup ended up being a bit smaller than planned due to short-term cancellations, but we made it work.

We talked about advantages of non-corporate social media for academics, about different ActivityPub platforms and clients, about ideas to foster fediverse use in academic circles through "living by example" rather than trying to persuade people directly.

Fun group of participants. Tragically we failed to finish all the snacks, so I have to take some home. 😱

My presentation in the Urban Future workshop at #MuC2024 went well, despite stretching the time limit. The rest of the workshop was really fun too! 😀 Running a hybrid workshop as a first-timer is no small feat. The organizers are not on here, but I gave my praise directly.
