M65 / M66 / NGC 3628 Galaxies - Leo Triplett - telescope processed image. Gravity has warped all three galaxies; M66 has asymmetric arms and an off-center core, while NGC 3628 sports a massive, 300,000 light-year-long tidal tail.M65 / M66 / NGC 3628 Galaxies - Leo Triplett - unprocessed image. NGC 3628 is nicknamed the "Hamburger" because its edge-on view and thick central dust lane resemble a cosmic patty sandwiched between two buns of stars.

Going to do a comparison between the s50 and Odyssey Pro once here are / / - aka . First and third images are from the s50, while the second and forth are from the Odyssey Pro.

M65 / M66 / NGC 3628 Galaxies - s50 telescope processed image with Moon and Sky Light Filter. The Leo Triplet is a famous group of three gravitationally-interacting spiral galaxies approximately 35 million light-years away. NGC 3628 (The Hamburger Galaxy) is seen perfectly edge-on.M65 / M66 / NGC 3628 Galaxies - Odyssey Pro telescope processed image. M65 is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the Leo Triplet, located approximately 35 million light-years away. It has tightly wound arms and an old stellar population.M65 / M66 / NGC 3628 Galaxies - s50 unprocessed image with Moon and Sky Light Filter. M66 is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the Leo Triplet, notable for its distorted spiral arms and displaced core from past gravitational encounters.M65 / M66 / NGC 3628 Galaxies - Odyssey Pro unprocessed image. NGC 3628 is the edge-on spiral galaxy in the Leo Triplet, nicknamed the "Hamburger Galaxy" due to the dark dust lane bisecting its disk.

Animation of #Asteroid #Flora approaching #NGC3628 the #HamburgerGalaxy in the #LeoTriplet 7th, 8th & 9th April 2025. Imaged from #Oxfordshire with a #WilliamOptics 70mm refractor + #Canon1100D Moonlight has been a real pain!

This week #Asteroid #Flora passes across #NGC3628 the #HamburgerGalaxy in the #LeoTriplet. This video shows its position from 8th-13th April. The galaxy is faint so moonlight will make it difficult visually, but it's still a decent imaging target. This is just a line of sight effect! #AsteroidTransit

I wanted to go after the Leo Triplet again after seeing how great the Newtonian did on M106 and the Triplet last time, but I last captured the Triplet before the scope was flocked so it has a faint donut around the galaxies. I figured I wouldn't risk stacking the new data with the old in case the donut would appear in the stack, so I started over on it. I got 5.43 hours of data on it which is almost an hour more than what I got last time. The two are pretty similar to each other, but it's nice to get rid of that donut.

163x120s lights (5.43 hours), flats, darks, and biases stacked in Deep Sky Stacker, edited in Siril and background extraction and noise reduction applied with GraXpert.

Had some time to do a couple more galaxy observations.

I shot the Leo Triplet in early January outside the city in a rural Bortle 3 area, while it was freezing cold. No Filters were used to capture more light of those broadband targets.

The Leo Triplet consists of the three galaxies M65, M66 and NGC 3628 and is approximately 35 million ly from earth.

#SkyWatch #Astrophotography These 3 galaxies are called the #LeoTriplet because they are part of the Leo constellation. They are 35 million light years from Earth. The top galaxy is #M65, the one on the left is #M66, and the one on the right is #NGC3628 also known as the Hamburger galaxy. I'm really pleased at the detail I was able to pull out of each galaxy, especially the blue star clusters in M66. #StillLearning

@mkwadee Leo Trio! #M65 #M66 #NGC3628 one of the easiest group of galaxies you can observe from de north hemisphere, it’s faintly visible in binocular and beautiful in 8 inches telescopes. I should retry #astrophotography of this beautiful field with a perfect weather !
