Headline in The Times (UK) today: 'National Library of Scotland apologises for gender-critical book ban'.

I understand news publications -- even the BBC -- like to pump up the hyperbole in their headlines about this incident. But, for the record, it was not a 'book ban'. It was a curatorial decision (however flawed) to exclude a gender-critical book from an exhibition, in which only 100 books could feature. The book was, and remains, loanable from the #NLS.

@NicksWorld @DavidGoldfield To be completely fair, I don’t think #NLS and #BARD were involved in the library grant cancellations, though I seem to remember reading that some of the state libraries could have been impacted. Good thing the cancellations got reversed in any event, though.

BARD 2.0 Login Issues
NLS is aware that some patrons are experiencing login issues with the BARD 2.0 website. Please be aware that we are actively working on resolving these issues.
Meanwhile, as a workaround, NLS has removed the Remember Me option from the BARD 2.0 login page. This means that when logging in to BARD, patrons will be required to enter their email address and password every time. Again, this is a workaround and may not address all of the login issues. We will post another message like this one, when the authorization issue as it relates to the Remember Me option has been remedied.

@hisdeedsaredust Actually can be resolved using a slightly later 1:1250 map from #NLS (details on the image or link https://maps.nls.uk/view/144863641).

This shows that KT1 3DF postcodes belong to Claremont Villas and KT1 3DA postcodes to Clarence Villas.

Looks as if #NLS is out of wack again. I sure wish they'd figure out what's wrong and get our #BARD system back on track. You can read what titles they have recently added, but you can't download. We never used to have these issues so they clearly have done something that is causing this ongoing challenge

Hello #blind mastodon, particularly anyone who has ever worked with the #humanware #NLS EReaders and #BARD. Partner @RainbowRemedy just received one and is getting it all set up for their use. They've logged into BARD and went to download a book as a test, but no download option appears! There's only the wishlist option and the metadata about the book. In settings, we've selected that both formats should be presented, Braille and Audio. What gives? Do we just have a book that isn't available in Braille as a test?

I was on the "that all my ERead" Zoom meeting today, and Humanware EReader update 3.0 will allow Android users to use it as a Braille display! And while I have you here talking about important stuff, did you know that kittens go meow?

The #NLS #eReader is very stupid and cannot handle anything. Scrolling YouTube disconnected and reconnected it. Large peaces of text makes the thing phrease. I like this device but even other displays i've used aren't that weak
