Many things work this way. We had 90F heat for a few days, & the A/C quit working. Scheduled service ASAP (wait: 6 days).

Guy arrives, it's 75F outside, A/C working OK. He turns thermostat to 66F to force it to work non-stop, checks everything there is to check (all measurements OK).

ALMOST ready to leave, & it finally stops. Eureka! (Previous service put in wrong value of motor capacitors.)

That was CLOSE to a $250 #NothingWrong visit. Whew!
