I have been unable to get to the #outlook for my usual morning pic. Too much snow. Others are walking the #trails so I may get back down there before spring. So here's a pic of a #dandelion flock, taken at the end of May a few years ago. #flowersOnFriday

The sun peeks through a dandelion flock. Behind it the silhouettes of pine trees, and at the bottom of the pic are other dandelions that have gone to seed. The #goldfinches love them. I saw my first #indigoBunting in among a flock of goldfinches feasting on a big patch of dandelions in the yard. They would land on the stalk, their tiny bodies weighing down the seed heads so they could pluck seeds at will.

It's 2026 and I'm still fighting email rendering quirks in Microsoft Outlook, even though they finally switched everything off of using Word to render HTML a few years ago.

Edit: Today's absurdity was discovering that current versions mangle <pre> tags in HTML email.

I have been using Outlook for literal decades. Microsoft has managed to botch #NewOutlook so bad, that I'm now at the stage of not trusting it will do anything I want it to. I canceled a meeting series last week. It's back. I canceled it again today, and now folks are somehow ACCEPTING the cancellation? 30% AI code, indeed. Make it make sense! (This is at work, I have no choice)

Clear Categories quickstep action broken in #Microsoft #Outlook (Classic) 😡

If a quickstep action uses a Clear Categories action, then the quickstep button is disabled now when the selected item has no categories asigned. But users often combine that with other actions such as "Move to folder". So the change blocks non-trivial workflows.

First reports seen and confirmed in November 2025 for Preview and Beta channel. And now made it to Production.

For full insanity: The grayed-out quickstep can still be launched by its keyboard shortcut.

I'm forced to use Office 365 and Outlook for work and now that I've finally left the Windows world behind me, I'm looking for creative ways to get around the rest of the bullshit.

Here's me figuring out how to receive and send work mails in a terminal app, without having to resort to social engineering. 😅
