Nachdem ich voriges Monat meinen GMail Account nach 19 Jahren stillgelegt und die Google Drive Sachen auf Proton migriert hab, ist jetzt der nächste Brocken dran - Google Fotos.

Proton Drive hat nicht recht gut funktioniert, aber Immich auf eigenem Server ist toll. Das mühsame ist allerdings, von meinen gescannten Bildern die richtigen EXIF Informationen anzugeben. Sonst weiss ja keiner, wann was war.

Bei der Gesichterkennung hapert es allerdings noch.

Der #Steam Client funktioniert zwar schon seit Jahren einwandfrei unter #Linux, und hat mit #Proton #Gaming unter Linux erst wirklich möglich gemacht. Mittlerweile gibt es aber auch gute Alternativen. Mit den #opensource launcher #Lutris bekommt man so gut wie jedes Spiel zum Laufen, egal ob Steam, #Origin, #Uplay, #Epic oder #GOG. Ich empfehle GOG, alle Spiele laufen auch offline weil sie #DRM frei sind, die Spiele gehören einem also wirklich, kein #GamesAsAService! Bin auch schon gespannt auf die Linux Version des GOG #Galaxy Launcher.

Oh, and this thread wasn't really for the upcoming #DIDay tomorrow, but it could be of interest to others anyway.
I used to have a backup with rclone to #Proton Drive (they don't have a native #Linux client or CLI or anything) but that integration with rclone was hacked together and not through an official, documented Proton API and broke at the end of last year when Proton made some changes.
For the time being I made a manual backup to an external hard drive (a >15 year old 80GB, 2.5" HDD, with spinning platters!), but I fear that will fail at one point.

Estaba escribiendo un toot en el que me despachaba a gusto con los coleguis de #ProtonMail porque hoy, de la noche a la mañana, me han dejado sin acceso a mi correo porque, según su web, mi navegador está obsoleto (siendo éste un Firefox todo lo actualizado que puede estar desde los repositorios oficiales de una de las distros de GNU/Linux más usadas). Cosa que no me pareció exactamente agradable. Que si avisan con una semana de antelación, pues bueno, pues todavía. Pero no.

Pues cuando tenia el toot ya casi terminado se me ocurrió volver a probar, quicir cerré el Firefox, lo volví a abrir, y fui a la web de #Proton. Y resulta que entró suave y sin problema, así que por hoy libro.
