Musical Interlude: And now for something fun...Jonathan and Darlene Edwards!
They were lounge singers out of New Jersey, known for their unique style and her stunning vocals....
OK, OK, not really. "Jonathan and Darlene" were really a comedy act who were really pianist and bandleader Paul Weldon, and his wife, classically trained singer Jo Stafford (go look for her "You Belong to Me," an enduring hit). Paul played medleys of songs that didn't go together, and Jo would carefully sing off-key and sometimes off-tempo.
They started just doing this for fun at parties, but ended up recorded a handful of albums, and won a Grammy for Best Comedy Recording in 1960. They had a hard time with the drummer for this recording...apparently he kept cracking up during the sessions...
