Repeating the last week ride on the historical #tram from #Trieste/#Trst to #VillaOpicina/#Opčine to then take the train to Ljubljana. Two #Brompton bicycles nicely fitted in the old, partially wooden tram car, with place to spare (the tram car also takes 2 regular-size bicycles from the outside). The tram operates partly as a funicular (on the steepest part, max gradient of 26%!) and climbs for 400 m from the sea level to Karst plateau.
View from behind a tram driver's cabin in the direction of driving. A hand of the driver is visible, resting on his leg. The tracks go rather uphill. The cabin looks (and is) old, with partly wooden furnishings inside. The commands are analogue! There is a big wheel (a manual brake), and a pneumatic brake handle above it.Folding bicycle, folded, resting at a person's leg. The person is sitting on a wooden bench.A tram at a tram station, some people standing at one side, unboarding and boarding. The tram looks historical, the lower part is blue.

Nice to stumble upon this video of the Trieste–Opčine tram/funicular, which I enjoyed travelling on while on holiday in Italy and Slovenia a little over 20 years ago 😊

This was before I had any means of recording video, and when I only had a film camera, but it feels very familiar
