Bad dentist appointment today. Not like, I'm gunna complain to the manager, but the young guy who was training by doing my cleaning tore my gums up.
I thought it was weird that he just started directly into cleaning without removing the ortho ties and wire.
When he hit me pretty hard with the polisher, it got my lip at the same time as my gums, where the lip was the outstanding pain so I said something. He said "oh, let's get you some lip balm."
Then my dentist came in when he was finishing up and she said, "oh, you were supposed to remove her bands and the wire first." I knew I hadn't gone crazy.
Then she politely scolded him that he should have had someone in the room with him who had more training.
And then she says, "oh, did you injure your gums recently?" I crinkled my nose and gently pointed (since there were tools in my mouth). This poor guy. You could hear the red on his face. The dentist asked him to stay in the room and observe, but at a certain point he just *Homer Simpson'd into the bushes.
I felt bad for this poor kid, and anyone else would have just asked him to stop. I think that means I overcame my dental fears? Or I'm just a people pleaser who developed a high tolerance for pain.
