There is not a lot going on, so an oldie it is for tonight. One year, the tree cam was visited by one of my favorites, an opossum. It came night after night for a while, and I was always looking forward to watching it. I have a very soft spot for these creatures, so I am always happy to see them. #animals #wildlife #ostdrossel

It looks like I have summoning powers, look hoo stopped by last night and scored! I am always stunned at the small size of the Screech Owls, that mouse is tiny. There are many mice around here, so I am happy that the owl got some nice dinner.

A superb Owl on this snowy Sunday. I have not managed to get out to look for one of these beauties this year yet, work always got in the way. The Tree Sparrows came back today, so I guess they are hanging out here for a bit. Here you can nicely study their ID details a bit - eye ring, beak colors, head marks and colors and the spot on the chest. They are on the smaller size, like Juncos and Goldfinches. #birds #Ostdrossel

Mourning Doves seem infatuated with the camera and love to pose. This one spent a lot of time just sitting right in front of it today, and when I watched, it relaxed me a lot. Come grab a chair and unwind with a MoDo.

The sun was out today! And there were lots and lots of Juncos. Here you can see a bit of the hierarchy thing that they have going on. Some tolerate feeding next to each other, others don't. The trills and "sledgehammer" noises are there to assert dominance, I suppose. It was windy today, so there is some side noise, but I hope you enjoy. #birds #BirdsOfMastodon #Ostdrossel

Mourning Doves are here year-round and in large numbers and can sometimes be overwhelming with their feeder dominance, but they make up for that with their spirit and their funny portraits. The tree cam has been busy these last couple of days. The Juncos are very feisty with one another but seem to tolerate others just fine. This is a spot that can be windy but I opted for no music to give the awesome Junco sounds some audience. This was the CY75 trailcam. #birds #Ostdrossel

Surprise visitor this morning #CaughtonBirdfy - a Grackle! I had one one year staying into December, but I don't think I have seen one in January in my yard before, but I also know that not all birds migrate far. I love Grackles and would not mind being his winter host. #birds #Ostdrossel

When I went out in the morning to refill feeders, I thought I heard a Robin. I usually do not see them at this time of year, they go where nature provides more food and return in spring. But here he is, he came for a sip at the bird bath. Looks a bit cold 😊#birds #Ostdrossel

It was a rough day outside but tonight is even colder. I hope they all have a safe spot for the night. I had to take two trail cams in for extra charging because they finally gave in to the temperatures. They'll go back out in the morning, with fresh food for the freezing crowd. Expressive friends today - one of the several Cardinals came when the sun was out for a bit, and the Blue Jay made a funny face, maybe because it arrived to an empty bowl. I refill as much as I can but when I work, the bowls may be empty for a bit too before I make it back out. It is getting really cold here this week, so I will make sure to refill frequently. #birds #birdwatching #Ostdrossel

A little Junco (and Nuthatch) parade from today. You can see a bit of the hot bark butter that I put on the tree during the day. The birds like it but the squirrels stay away from it - the heat irritates their noses (I always wear gloves when I put it on, too, it is powerful).
