I imagine thus is what Cybertronian cryptids look like.

My favorite thing about Paleotrex from the War For Cybertron Kingdom toy line is that getting a bunch of him means more parts to make monsters.

One of my favorite releases from the War For Cybertron Kingdom toy line! I got one and knew I needed more of this guy!

Paleotrex is a tyrannosaurous rex skeleton transformer! How can I not love it?

Today's Deskbot is a bit special. 😊 The Combiner with no name!

Every year among Hasbro's Generations toy lines there's a gimmick applied to a few characters; it changes every year to keep things spicy for us Kidults (and kids, I suppose). In 2020's War For Cybertron: Kingdom line they introduced Fossilisers, Transformers who assemble from components into fossilised dinosaur, to robot, to as many weird and wonderful armour or weapon or thingummy configurations for other characters you could imagine. The first of these were:

Paleotrex
Wingfinger
Ractonite.

I've had Paleotrex and Wingfinger for a while but Ractonite only just arrived yesterday! He was fittingly purchased from a lesser-known outlet named
Dinobot Island Toys. who have a few great bargains right now so very much worth a look!

These three unofficially combine into a towering monstrosity of techno-organic bone demonstrated at a Hasbro Press event as a previously undisclosed "surprise" form. However, hasbro either didn't have a name ready for him or plain forgot to tell us what it was! I've had a brainstorm for names myself and the best two I liked were ARKON and SKELETAR. Perhaps both, if I use Arkon as a title similar to Lord! Fans have also had a stab at it:
"Greg", anyone? 😆

This may be the first cross-factional combiner as well, Wingfinger being a Maximal while the other two are Predacons. Yes, it could happen waaay back in the Scramble-city days, and maybe Combiner Wars threw up one or two oddities as well (Cyclonus had the power to forcibly combine with either faction).

There are
instructions for how to make the Combined mode so I followed these this morning. However, as with any DIY project, there were a fair few bits and pieces left over. So I kept on fiddling and am proud to say I found a place/use for ALL the rest as well! You can make a wee assembly that kid of leans in the direction of a bow, a trident and - as shown in the pictures - a side/backpack assembly leading to a fearsome shoulder cannon! Kinda proud of this; I've never seen it before so it represents my own contribution. That, and moving his arms to a higher position to give him extra shoulder-girth. 😇

Please do enjoy the photos. I have had a great time fiddling with him and getting creative, as well as taking the photos of what is a very loose figure once he's all assembled (how it stands upright on those tiny feet I'll never know!)

Enjoy these bony freaks!

The default configuration for this combiner, sourced from TFWIKI.My configuration with the higher/wider 'shoulders' and the backpack shoulder-weapon assembly. That cannon gives him a much needed edge over the default configuration! Hard to see in this photo but I've also given him one attached to his hip as well - the long brown piece above the beak at the rear, pointing towards the T-rex crotch piece.A closer focused shot of this monstrosity from the front, his lower legs now out of shot.A similar shot to the last but angled from the left side showing off some of the components a bit better. You can see the cannon sticking forwards now, and that huge piece of Paleotrex acting as blade of bone protecting his ribcage.
