#TIL Red Pandas are the only animals in their family, Ailuridae. There are two species of them that look the same, and we've accidentally been interbreeding those species for years.

Red Pandas were called "pandas" before Panda Bears were called pandas. #PandaBears are (you guessed it) unrelated to #RedPandas.

They're closer to #raccoons and #foxes, but don't share a family there either.
