Hype for the Future 62/284: About novaTopFlex, Part One
Preamble To ring in the new year, 2026, the first year of effectively complete autonomy as novaTopFlex, the first step of the year is to identify and examine personal interests in a public-facing manner. Therefore, the terms utilized do not intend to leak out personally identifiable information (PII), and when they do, there are only so many days in a calendar year and so many people have shared birthdays and other characteristics and definitions. End of Year Round Up Part 2 – A Year of Chasing Happiness

You can read part 1 here.
Welcome to Part 2 of my 2025 End-of-Year Round-Up. This second post is usually more casual and will focus on recaps and highlights from my 2025 so far, both within the otome gaming sphere and a few personal updates from yours truly.
2025 Otome Highlights
✔️ There were 15 (localized) Otome Games released for the Switch & PC this year.
Nintendo Switch
PC Exclusive
Mobile Port
I included 7’Scarlet on the Switch list because, although it is a PS Vita port, the Switch version for it is more enhanced and includes new features that aren’t in the Vita release. The indie title, From Madness with Love btw, did not get a Western eShop release. While the game offers an English language option, it is only available for purchase through the JP eShop. For those who prefer a physical copy, the game can be purchased here.
Ngl, I’ve mainly kept up with the Switch localizations only this year, so it’s possible I missed a few PC-exclusive localized titles. Feel free to comment with any games I may have overlooked, and I’ll be sure to add them to the list.
✔️ 10 Nintendo Switch Otome Game titles have been announced for localization in 2026.
✔️ 2 PC Otome Game titles have been announced for localization in 2026-2027.
✔️ Lots of Exciting Indie Games Coming in 2026.
There are actually sooooo many indie games slated for release next year. The indie scene has really been on a roll, and it’s been amazing to see so many indie titles gaining attention within the community recently! Unfortunately, I haven’t kept up with indie releases as closely this year, but the ones I’ve marked on my 2026 Schedule, basically the titles I’m most excited to play for next year are:
I’ve also backed several other Kickstarter campaigns, but since I’m not entirely sure whether their release dates fall in next year, I haven’t added them to my “Games to play” schedule for 2026 just yet.
Blog Updates
I’ve received quite a few requests for weekly updates on what games I’m currently playing, what I’ll be playing next, and which titles I’ll be reviewing or posting walkthroughs for. And while I’ve given this some thought, I have decided to not make my gaming schedule public. I don’t want to set expectations or commitments, especially since my schedule is always changing due to my full-time job. I mostly play and review games whenever I can during my spare time, so I’m normally just winging it tbh. After all, otome gaming is a hobby for me, not a full-time career.
I apologize if this is disappointing, but if you’d still like some casual updates on what I’m currently playing, along with upcoming reviews and walkthroughs, I do share monthly updates through my newsletter. You’re always welcome to check there if needed.
As for the titles I plan to prioritize releasing reviews and walkthroughs for next year, I am certain that I’ll definitely be releasing content for the 10 Switch titles listed above. In addition, there are a few games from my backlog that I’ve been playing this year, which I’m hoping to finish and possibly review as well in 2026. I won’t mention the titles, as I want them to pop up in the most random, out-of-nowhere fashion ever! (cackles)😝
If you’ve filled out my End-of-Year survey this year, you may have noticed that I added a “community section” to it. This was meant to gauge reader interest and to better understand what visitors of this site are most excited about, especially when it comes to otome games and localizations. A lot of the survey answers are really insightful, not to mention, fun!
Top 3 Favorite Localization Titles:
Top 10 Titles you want to see localized:
Despite Rejet’s resolute stance when it comes to localizing their games in the West, it’s still pretty funny how Diabolik Lovers keeps popping up in the top 10 of these surveys lol.🤣 Give it up guys! jk
Out of the ten listed above, my heart is on Olympia Soirée: Catharsis, UN:Logical, and maybe 9 R.I.P. Sequel. Those three are the ones I’m personally hoping to see announced in the near future!
I’ve mailed all of the GO items from last year’s GO list. Unfortunately, I’ll be stopping any GOs for the foreseeable future. The tariffs right now make it difficult to handle bulk orders overseas, and I really don’t want to carry that burden or stress anymore. I want to sincerely thank all my GO members for being so understanding about this.
I’ve been putting off changing the website banner for a while, but this year I commissioned three artists to create a new banner for the site. I just haven’t decided which one will be the best fit yet. I’m hoping to make the switch by the end of Q1, so expect the new banner to go up by the end of March! It’ll feature the same mascot and color scheme, just in a different art style this time.
Personal Updates
This year has definitely been…..something. I’m not going to pretend that the world is all rosy and perfect, because it is most certainly NOT the case, and very far from it even. But I hope I am allowed to refrain from reporting the bad things here. We already get so much of that from the news, so I wanted to at least keep this post as trigger-free as possible. I’ll still be rambling, just focusing less on the negative aspects.
I consider this post below as TMI, so I’ll be keeping it, as usual, under a spoiler tab! This part has nothing to do with otome games as well, so feel free to skip this section if you’d like.
⬇️ Personal highlights of 2025!♥Went to see Taemin this year!
And it was amazing. This was Taemin’s first solo tour in the U.S., and a friend and I (who’s been my otome moot since the dark ages lol) met up in the cold of February to watch his Ephemeral Gaze tour together. It was honestly surreal. Taemin is just the best! Here’s a random clip from one of his ments during the concert (video quality not that good sorry!) His VIP passes sold out pretty fast so we couldnt get one! SOB
♥Went to see Baekhyun this year!
Went with the same friend, and her sister, (us three are practically concert besties now) to see Baekhyun’s Essence of Reverie tour last June. This one was a much more emotional experience. I was in tears after the concert for some reason lol. I thought it was just me, but my friend’s sister was crying right beside me too.HAHA The concert was so emotional that I honestly can’t put it into words. Getting to see Baekhyun sing live is honestly an out-of-body experience, I’m not even joking. It was just incredible!😭 The organizer for Taemin’s tour was the same one for Baek, so we didnt get to secure VIP passes either! bummer! Here’s a random clip of Baekhyun’s EoR concert.
♥Went to see KAI this year!
KAI is literally my ult. I’d only ever dreamed of seeing him perform live at a solo con, so when he announced Western dates for KAION, I was genuinely on cloudnine. His concert was amazing! My throat hurt from all the screaming, but its fine! I was also incredibly lucky to snag some of his VIP1 passes before it sold out, this included a backstage meet-and-greet. I’m still giddy just writing this. I completely froze when I saw him in person (full system shutdown lmao). It was embarrassing, my god, but at least I got to lock eyes with KAI for a solid five seconds. Best five seconds of my life!😭 Here’s a clip of me almost losing it during the exo medley. (Warning: feral screaming)
That pretty much sums up the highlights of my 2025! I’m a firm believer that kpop concerts are one of the best forms of therapy and self-care out there. You get to meet up with friends, indulge in the things you love, listen to great music, meet other fans, dress up and feel cute, watch your idol perform live and sell happiness on stage! LOL I mean… it works! fr!🤣 PS: My friends and I are going to see Taemin and Baekhyun again in Vegas this January! Might giveaway some freebies by the entrance so if you’re also going, pls come say hi! ❤
As the title says for this Round-Up post, this year I’ve been laser-focused on chasing small heaps of happiness wherever I can find them. I realize I’m not getting any younger, and spending too much time and energy on things that leave me mentally drained just isn’t worth it (it slowly eats you alive, honestly). So yeah, it’s been a nice change to be a little selfish for once and try to reward myself with small bits of joy from time to time.I’m also very thankful that nothing incredibly bad has happened to me this year…at least nothing I couldn’t eventually get back on my feet from. As for work, I don’t expect my situation to magically improve really, especially not with the country’s economy struggling and companies refusing to hire more people. Unfortunately as long as corporate sharks exist, I’m always going to be overworked. My advice to anyone just starting their career is to be careful about sharing your skillset with your boss if it is not directly related to your line of work, or you risk being taken advantage of.
Special Thanks
I’ve opened again up my end-of-year survey this year. This survey is basically to gauge readership as I do constantly wonder whether there are still people reading this blog. It also helps me improve the content on this site. Over the years, I’ve added a lot of features, like the spoiler drop-downs, glossary terms and the Switch masterlist pages, which were originally suggestions from readers. I want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed feedback over the years. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!🥹
Also, I’d like to sincerely thank all who filled out the form and left such kind comments and praises. I don’t think I deserve all of this, tbh. I haven’t really been pumping out a constant stream of articles on the blog this year, and that’s entirely on me…there’s only so much energy a person can have in a day!🥲One thing I’m especially proud of this year though is pouring my heart into every piece of content I created. Honesty and meticulous dedication are values I hold dear, and I hope they shine through in the work I share on this blog.🥹
This little corner of the internet has always been a form of therapy for me. It is a happy place I can return to whenever life gets tough. I think what makes this even more special is knowing that while I do this as a hobby to bring a little happiness to myself, there are also people out there who find that same sense of joy in reading what I write.
I am really really, incredibly grateful to everyone who still visits this site after all these years, leaves comments, fangirls with me, or even to those who point out walkthrough errors, spelling mistakes, typos, or to the ones who sends me news tips and game updates via email. You are all my comrades at heart. THANK YOU SO MUCH for treating me with such kindness this year. 🙇🏻♀️ I promise to return it twice as much through the content I create next year!!
Also, guys! Congratulations, we made it to the last leg of 2025! My sincere wish for 2026 is that you can find and indulge in the happiness you for sure deserve. Even if it is just for a little while, go grab that small piece of joy. Enjoyment is a choice, go ahead and claim the happiness that is rightfully yours. Happy New Year everyone!🎉🥂

This evening on my blog: Unblogged December, being a few notes of things that I didn't otherwise write about.
Unblogged December
And so to notes of things I didn’t otherwise blog about earlier in December.
Tuesday 2
Last Friday on the way home from the osteopath, I stopped at our local flower shop, to procure a large bouquet of chrysanthemums for N. They also had some large Phalaenopsis orchids; some white, some a slightly striped mauve. I indulged in in an orchid for myself! Last evening I looked at it on the bedroom windowsill in the light of my bedside lamp and was struck by the oblique lighting effect. So with my mobile to hand I grabbed a couple of photos.
People think orchids are difficult, and have to be thrown out when they’ve finished flowering. But this is not true of Phalaenopsis. They just have to be treated the right, but simple, way. Although you may never achieve the floral magnificence which the commercial grower achieved, you can get them to repeat flower once or twice a year, for years. Orchids are fairly expensive, so don’t just throw that investment away after a few weeks.
Wednesday 3
Cracked open the first bottle of 2024 Tavel (see https://zenmischief.com/2017/11/rose/ for my first post about Tavel). Verdict: really lovely and only a little behind the 2021, which for me was the best vintage ever.
Thursday 4
I managed to opt out of accompanying N to her hospital eye appointment – and by all accounts it’s as well I did as it would have been time wasted because she just got a round of boring tests. So I stayed extra long in the nice warm, comfortable bed, and then failed to do everything I needed to get done.
Friday 5
Gorgeous pink and apricot sunrise this morning.
Sunday 7
Its raining. It’s dull and dreary. It’s miserable. It’s December. And yet we still have roses trying to flower!
Monday 8
Eating lunch today and there appears a squirrel to sit two feet outside the window. What on earth is it carrying? Oh, the remains of an avocado (it’s obviously raided the compost bucket). And it sits there, quite nonchalantly, destroying the skin of this half avocado and throwing fragments everywhere – there can’t have been a lot of flesh left on it, but it was clearly worthwhile.
Wednesday 10
Phew! That was a couple of days slog getting cards and parcels organised and (mostly) away. So nice this morning to drop round to friends for pre-Christmas coffee and mince pies, take their presents, and relax.
Sunday 14
My trail cameras are driving me nuts. They’re set to take photos during darkness. The newest one will not take enough pictures; just a few during the evening and nothing after midnight. It works fine indoors, but not outside. The old one takes pictures OK, but fewer than I would expect, but enough to show the new one doesn’t work well. WTF is going on? Still one thing they produced this week was three foxes in the garden, up near the house; they looked as if one (at least) was an intruder on an established territory.
Monday 15
Last night there were two crane flies on the bedroom ceiling. Why? I know it is fairly mild, but it really isn’t the right time of year. They were obviously Tiger Craneflies (Nephrotoma spp.) from the almost unbelievable, and unexpected, colouring – clearly pretending to be a wasp!
Wednesday 17
Weird pink fog! Very foggy at 04:00 and still foggy when I got up just before 08:00, which was roughly sunrise. Looking east the fog was distinctly pink, presumably due to scattered light from the rising sun. But a very odd effect.
PS. I was indeed right about the pink fog, see for instance this Guardian report.
Thursday 18
Today arrived two Postcrossing postcards. They completed my latest board and take my total to 500 cards received I under three years. I was wondering if I would manage to complete the board before Christmas, but I had expected it to be a bit more finely judged than this.
Sunday 21
This evening we had roast half shoulder of lamb which we’d had sitting in the freezer for a while. And guess what? All three cats came along for a share! None had a lot, just two or three morsels – just a little taster so we’re sure that the humans have been out hunting for us.
Tuesday 23
We saw the gardener today. He was livid with his GP and his specialists – and rightly. They demand this that and the other tests, scans etc.; don’t explain why; and don’t tell him the results without him demanding. Oh and they don’t talk to each other either; but when they do they don’t read the correspondence; and he’s left as a channel for information – especially as he’s caught between three different health authorities! I had to remind him that (a) it is his body and his results so he is entitled to know and should be told; (b) if they can’t provide a good reason for a test (like he has a symptom of something) then he is entitled to refuse to go along with it (you’re entitled to decline anyway); and (c) his GP is the one who retains overall responsibility for his total healthcare. Admittedly I have only his word for all this, but it looks like a classic example of how not to care for your patient. Some body(s) need the application of an Exocet suppository.
Wednesday 24
Last evening we had a small amount of mashed potato left over, which we knew we’d not use in the next couple of days. So with some scraps it was put out for the fox. This morning, everything had disappeared. Who knew that foxes like mashed potato? I’m always surprised at the things the foxes will eat – like digestive biscuits! But we do know that cats like prawns; so needless to say our three felines helped this evening with our prawns. Sorry, foxes, you didn’t get a chance.
Thursday 25
Christmas Day, and what a glorious sunny morning with not a cloud in the sky – but breezy and chilly. An Alpine day, except there’s no snow. And it has been deathly quiet here all day.
Friday 26
Boxing Day, and still the commercial world are pushing out routine emails. Yesterday (Christmas Day!) and today I’ve had four emails about our bank accounts, several about upcoming auctions, and at least one reminding me of an upcoming subscription renewal, plus a number of others. All could have waited until Monday.
Sunday 28
This afternoon I unloaded the last two weeks photographs from the trail cameras to find a couple of super shots.
First there was one from 19/12 of the fox going over the 6ft fence to next door, with apparently no effort. The thing is that the guy next door probably thinks that the fox can’t manage his fence.
Then in the small hours of Christmas morning something I’ve not seen before: two foxes having a jousting match (probably over territory).
Tuesday 30
“It was that prolonged, flat, cheerless week that follows Christmas … those latter days of the dying year create an interval, as it were, of moral suspension: one form of life already passed away before another has had time to assert some new, endemic characteristic. Imminent change of direction is for some reason often foreshadowed by such colourless patches of time.”
[Anthony Powell; The Acceptance World]
Wednesday 31
So the old year ends with a bright, sunny, but cold day. Which makes a refreshing change from the rest of this dismal year. Hopefully it’s a good omen for 2026 – I certainly hope so! As usual I’m not making New Year Resolutions as I view them as self-defeating ordinances, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be trying to tweak and enhance things. I’d love to be able to start with killing the depression. Perhaps I need to invest in a few sacrificial Gadarene Swine.
Happy New Year to Everyone

Nine Years of Cannibal Halflings
Well, we're leaving our enneadic era behind and heading into our tenth year. If you take OD&D as the starting point of the 'modern TTRPG' (although I'd recommend taking a deeper dive), that means we've been doing this for... ~17% of the medium's lifespan? Which also means CHG has been active for longer than some editions of D&D? Oh gods. Well, let's see what we did, and then look ahead to the final solar rotation of a decade of CHG. The Four Most Valuable Lessons I Learned in 2010
Inspired by Justin Hoenke’s great post I decided to make my own list of libraryland/professional things I learned in 2010.
1. Not everyone is going to like you
This was probably the most important and the hardest lesson I learned. I was having a conversation with a friend in April when he said these words to me, and I’ll admit at first I was pissed. Easy for him to say I thought, then I cut the conversation short and went right back to feeling slighted.
But the words stuck with me and as I thought about it, I realized the truth of them. There are plenty of people I don’t care for, some for very good reasons, others just rub me the wrong way. I try to be professional and courteous to everyone but I’m sure at some point these people have felt slighted by me. Of course if I don’t like everyone I certainly can’t expect every to like me. And I don’t want them to. I’ve always believe that if I’m not rocking at least a few boats I’m doing something wrong. If I have done all I can to connect with someone and they don’t like me I need to stop wasting my energy whining about it and move on.
I felt even better when a few months ago I stumbled across an old post of Karen Schneider’s How to be “famous” (wink wink, nudge nudge) in which she writes:
Some people will resent you no matter what. I’ve had to get comfortable with the fact that some people really do not wish others well. Some will badmouth you publicly, and even worse, some will badmouth you sotto voce. I hesitated about even writing this post, which I’ve been thinking about for close to a year, because in my head I hear a voice making snide remarks about so-and-so thinking she’s hot stuff (hence also the cautiously qualified title). But hence the next piece of advice:
Own up to your own feelings. I spent years whining that “so-and-so doesn’t like me” before I got honest with myself and acknowledged that the feeling was mutual. Likewise, boycotting an activity because another famous so-and-so was invited is also not cricket (yup, seen it happen, thought about doing it myself). Be an adult, please. You may not think highly of this person, but someone does, so put on your best public face and do what needs to be done.
If someone I admire and respect as much as Ms. Schneider has struggled with these feelings I must not be so horrible after all. Which leads me to my next lesson:
2. Admit you are human.
A year ago I wouldn’t have written a post like this, admitting my flaws so publicly. Fortunately I know some amazing people. Every time I see a post like the one by Justin that inspired this post or the one previously linked to one by Karen I am awed and slightly jealous of the comfort they feel being open and honest. I’m not sure what I expect to happen when I open up, but when I do I amazed at the reaction from others. People, for the most part, are kind, compassionate and want to connect to and help others, even me!
While I feel I have learned this lesson this year, this area will no doubt continue to be a work in progress for me.
3. Don’t take things so personally.
For years I have hated this advice, to the extent that person offering it was risking a swift kick in the shins. I mean really, it’s happening to ME how am I supposed to take it? This year I’ve come to realize that the problem with taking things personally is it negates your ability to calmly, coolly, and effectively deal with the situation. Taking it personally activates your fight or flight response neither of which works today’s world. (Unless you actually are being chased by a lion, then in that case, by all means, FLIGHT!)
A lot has happened this last year: transliteracy has grown amazingly quickly with both the blog and the Interest Group which has made the word a big target, and sometimes me along with it. People have quit group projects they started with me, abandoned articles, publicly called me rude and condescending after repeatedly being rude and condescending themselves, declared my work and effort a waste of time, a joke or a ploy for attention, these things have been said publicly and occasionally privately when they thought I wouldn’t find out about it, then I did anyway.
I’ll admit it, I ranted or swore or cried or all three, occasionally at the same time. But in the end I really only have two choices: I can either accept that I have no idea what is happening in the lives of these people an assume they didn’t intend to be mean or spiteful or petty or cruel. Or I can:
4. Ignore the assholes.
I know I don’t usually swear on this blog, but I love the book The No Asshole Rule: Building a Civilized Workplace and Surviving One That Isn’t. I think a great deal of improvement would be seen in libraries if every manager from the director on down had this book sitting in their office, proudly on display and more importantly subscribed to the practices it talks about.
Some people are just assholes, they are unhappy, miserable, and petty, and find great joy in spreading this around. Ignore them. Find away to remove them from your space- don’t read their blog posts or their Twitter feed, filter their emails to the trash so you never have to see one again.
Don’t misunderstand I’m not advocating never acknowledging someone who disagrees with you. It is possible to disagree or to argue without being an asshole. But the assholes are out there with their drive-by-snark, their flip comments, name calling, juvenile attempts at humor. I know some people think there is value in engaging with these individuals I do not. I find every time I give into the temptation and engage these individuals I came away feel dirty and am reminded of the words of George Bernard Shaw:
I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it.
4.5 Haters Gonna Hate – Edited to add about 30 minutes after hitting publish, this is what I get for not sleeping on it. But its so closely tied to four I’m ok with sneaking it in here.
Have I mentioned how awesome my friends are? They are. A different friend than I mentioned in number one said this to me earlier this year. He’s right. They will. The real power is in letting it go. It may sound cliche and maybe juvenile but the truth is those people, the Haters, they are gonna hate nothing you or I do will stop them.
Some visuals on haters from two of my favorite blogs. Above a very recent drawing from Indexed:
