Back to Pimemon yellow. Leaving Cerulean city eastbound I defeated a few trainers and caught a male Nidoran which feels like a nice explpit to circumvent the no duplicates rule and allows me to have a replacement for ky female Nidoran, which I hope I won't lose.
So far so good.

Not sure why I decided tp head over to Orania City before challenging misty, but I cought a jigglypuff on the way there, had some nice Pokemon Battles and now have a fishing Rod as well as a Coupon for a Bike.
I think after catching a magicarp in the city I will head back to Cerulean though.
Then I challenged the trainers of the nugget bridge. For some reason misreading and thinking there were only 4 of them so I took on only 4 before heading back to heal.
And then things would turn south...
After I talked a little bit to the locals of cerulean city I aproached the nugget bridge.
And my Rival suddenly showing upmgave me.quite the shock. Especially with the :spearow: he was leading with being level 18!
But a quick switch to Boulduin turned the tides in my favour. A single throw of stones and spearow was down.
My geodude almost continued it's winning streak, but after my rivals :sandshrew: threw a bunch of dust un Boulduins eyes I had to switch it out.
Looking at the HP of my mons I decided to let Schmitty the :butterfree: have at it.
And after some tactical hardening confusion took samdshrew out.
After that :rattata: was no match against sleeping powder and confusion.
Not even Garys :eevee: stood a chance, sleeping a whole 4 turns before going down to consecutive confusion attacks.
Very nice and clean fight I'd say.

Went back to viridian city and westwards onto the route that leads into the direction of victory road and relearned that you can catch pokemon in that little patch of tall grass without running the risk of triggering the fight with gary.
Managed to catch a lv 3 menki that I want to bring onto the same general level as the rest of my team.
I really dread that gary fight because I have no idea how strong he actually is. I just remember it to be a very stressfull fight in the early game that usually had forced me to use items in fight. Maybe I'm just a burnt kid in that regard.
I just don't want to lose a Pokemon or two 😵💫
On Route 3 I cought a :spearow: and mount moon gave me a :geodude: :o
Naned the former Pecker and the latter Boulduin.
Now I've got a nice team of 6.
When they're trained a little bit I'll head back to viridian city and then westwards on the route towards the pokemon league, hoping I didn't miscalculate and get wrecked by the rival battle there.
Want to get one of the Pokemon there. And the sooner the better.
To take a break from Perfect Silver, I'd like to take a quick look at this Taiwanese translation hack of Pokemon Yellow. It appears to be an early version of a lesser known Chinese translation hack. I hope I can find a copy of the possibly newer version to compare this with.
A fellow collector informed me that this translation was actually produced by Vast Fame. Now, I don't know about that personally but I do trust them as they know a lot more than me.
On the Analogue Pocket it boots in black and white... which actually makes sense as the Japanese version of the game (which this is built on) doesn't have the same GBC enhancements the other region releases have. Thankfully I can apply a palette to it. However, if you load it in the SGB core you can fully see the rainbow-ish sparkles in the opening "credits".

I have successfully migrated my #PokemonYellow save file off of my phone onto my DS lite.

I passed a shop today and saw a copy of Pokémon Yellow in the window! It was £20 which I felt wasn't too bad, despite the faded label.
I wonder if there's any saved data on it? I'll have to check!

There are some technical explanations that went over my head a little haha. It's always nice to see independent sites are still a thing and those affiliate link button designs sure take me back. It makes me want to do something (simple) myself, though I'm just... not sure how to do the whole website thing with any competence. It's certainly something I've looked into before and I'll figure it out someday.
