Spring Street Bridge Pile Driving

New: Starting on or about October 13, 2025, crews will be installing piles for the Spring Street Bridge abutments. This work is necessary to complete the new bridge. Crews will be driving piles between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

NEW: On or about Monday, July 28, through Thursday, July 31, 2025, Purple Line crews will implement extended-hour lane closures along Wayne Avenue near Sligo Creek Parkway. Crews will use flaggers at the Wayne Avenue and Sligo Creek Parkway intersection to facilitate crane movement and girder placement at the Sligo Creek bridge. Lane closures and flagging may take place from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. throughout these dates. Pedestrian access will be maintained. Please follow posted signage and directions from on-site personnel.

Temporary Closure of the Wayne Avenue and Fenton Street Intersection

UPDATE: The temporary closure of the Wayne Avenue and Fenton Street intersection has been extended to about September 5, 2025, due to unforeseen utility conflicts. Crews are doing everything they can to mitigate this situation; however, the current schedule estimates completion to be after Labor Day.

Through approximately September 5, 2025, crews will install light rail tracks, reconstruct sidewalks, and complete stormwater drainage and utility crossings across the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Fenton Street. This work has required a temporary full closure of the Wayne Avenue and Fenton Street intersection to vehicular traffic. WMATA and Ride-On bus routes may be affected. Please check directly with your transit service provider for any updates or detour information. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Please follow posted signage and directions from on-site personne

Temporary Closure of the Ramsey Avenue and Bonifant Street Intersection

Update: On or about August 4, through October 6, 2025, Crews will implement a temporary full closure of the Ramsey Avenue and Bonifant Street intersection. This closure is required to install light rail tracks, reconstruct sidewalks, and complete utility crossings across the intersection. Access to the Kiss and Ride and taxi stands on Level 3 of the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit Center will remain open with access from Ripley Street. The Bonifant-Dixon Garage access on Dixon Street remains open for local businesses. Pedestrian access to the transit center, the MARC platform, and local businesses will remain accessible. Please follow posted signage and directions from on-site personnel.
