Interior with trailing greenery and archway framing an ocean view. Blue textile-like material is replacing what seems to be a terracotta tiled floor but on closer inspection is a tile illusion carpet over bricks. AI impressionism style.

I’m stripping last of the old wall paper today. We’ll see how far I get. So far it’s a huge mess.
There is a reason to start on this side of the room - electricity!
I need some moving and additional sources for things like micro, tiny freezer and whatever electric cooking and baking machines and I’m not allowed to do installations myself - for security and insurance reasons.
Walls have to be finished before I contact the electrician.

Deskbot today is Power of the Primes Inferno! :autobot:

This smokin' hot redeco of Combiner Wars Hot Spot finally found his way to me to fulfill a jokey concept I sent out into the world on Saturday past. For the purposes of said joke, I bought him sans weaponry, combiner feet or his 'Autobot Enigma': some jokes aren't worth spending ebay prices on.

Nevertheless in his brief time with me he's been very impressive upon my malleable mind. The uncomplicated repaint to vivid red and coal black is very cool and as a figure paired with contemporaries, like POTP Jazz below, he stands proud and tall.

Is he Inferno, though? I'm not convinced. However, perhaps he doesn't have to be given suggestions he might be a Fire Chief homage (look it up!).

His combined mode amuses with his red 'crown' atop his black head but, like Hot Spot, makes for one of the most successful of the Combiner Wars combiners. A powerhouse of protective might.

POTP Inferno in robot mode. He's a majestic lad. Red and black (everyone's favourite Wine Gums) with yellow and silver highlights, he's an eye-catching figure.

Inferno is Joined by two of his Power of the Primes peers. Jazz looking cool despite the combiner-compromised engineering. And Micronus Prime and his Cloudburst Armour in weapons mode in Inferno's hand to make up for me being cheap buying Inferno without accessories. Being stood next to Jazz (Deluxe scale) accentuates his height (Voyager scale).

Inferno in his looong vehicle mode, a fire truck complete with long ladder molded in all-white plastic. That vehicle mode is really lacking some detail or coloured spots to make it pop. It's kind of a long red brick, but then thinking back the original toy was kind of similar?

The big show! The Combiner with No Name! The shot I photshopped to make my art piece on Saturday! Inferno as the torso of a five-piece Combiner with versions of Jazz, Prowl, Sunsteaker and Wheeljack. I didn't realise this until doing my research today but this red Defensor-esque torso with mostly white limbs evokes the last-gasp combiner from the Japanese continuity, called Guard City. That's kinda cool.

My first non-mainstream purchase way back when, Skywarp is a BotCon exclusive toy based on the Jetstorm mold. When people see jets in Transformers it is inevitable they think G1 seekers but I'm glad they did here because this redeco is fabulous! Orange on a Skywarp!? IT TOTALLY WORKS.

He's joined today by "Sonic Attack Jet", meant to represent the generic Army-build Jetstorm drones from the show but if you can't think of another G1 Seeker in blue with a sonic attack then I'm afraid we can't be friends.

Skywarp in his very cool jet mode, mostly black but picked out with yellow orange and silver highlights.

In the Show Jetstorm could do an extendy goose-neck thing in Jet mode to talk to people, using the cockpit as an ersatz head. The toy replicates this trick! Goofy! Fun!

Skywarp and Sonic Attack Jet looking moody like landed Hawks. You can show their wing tips backwards or swept forwards. Here Skywarp has the former, S.A.J has the latter.

Deskbot today is that most enigmatic former Constructicon, Road "Hauler" Hauler! :autobot:

The Grapple/Inferno mold is one of my favourites from the original Diaclone > Transformer imports. Simple, yet classic. Dare I say: Iconic? So when Hasbro chose to update it for Generations, I was delighted to see that instead of re-inventing the six-wheeled form, which had aged rather badly, they simply re-engineered the old one, adding articulation and places for his various accessories to stow (plus lots of fun 5mm ports to suit current play patterns).

Hauler himself is quite an enigma, lingering on the ultra-obscure fringes of Transformers lore until Hasbro needed an excuse to sell me a third colour of this mold.

He may/may not have helped build Megatron but as a conscientious objector to what the Constructicons were becoming, may have sneakily included a small exhaust port in Meg's design which, if targetted correctly with a plasma torpedo, would trigger a chain reaction and destroy the stati-Decepticon Leader.

Road Hauler in his crane-truck vehicle mode. He's a very vivid neon green. I saw an actual construction vehicle painted this colour once and my Transformers Heart exploded with joy.

'Hauler in Robot mode. The original had replaceable fists that risked being lost by careless children, amd missile accessories that slot into the ports. This modern design keeps that shenanigans to a miminum; the fists simply rotate inside the fore-arms and anything detachable has a place on the figure to plug into for storage.

This is an unusual choice of expression. His mouth is a wide hole his soul can escape through. Coupled with the angry eyes this Autobot has and he's in a seriously bad mood with someone and being very vocal about it.

Which come to think of it is probably exactly what you'd find on a building site, some supervisor having to robustly explain himself to someone.

Hailing from the Generations "Diaclone Universe" these two sentient AI wearing very familiar convertible bodies have been on my radar ever since their comic appearance in the Fun Pub special, Cybertron's Most Wanted, set on Axiom Nexus, multiversal hub for dimensional travellers of all TF universes.

Dimensional Travellers excite my nipples. 🥰

I can also reveal, exclusively, that the name Diaclone did not in fact stem from a portmanteau of the words Diamond Cyclone, but in fact was originally named after the redeco toy up-sell concept, Dye-A-Clone, and the more innocuous and famous origin was cooked up to disguise the naked avarice involved. This explains why we have Nemesis Skids and Burning Hoist here today with very little to distinguish them from their original source Transformer designs.

You heard it here first. You didn't want to, but you did.

Also notable is that these characters have human pilots (eww)(also: not part of these toy releases) and are powered by Fictional AI, entirely distinguishable from Real AI which confidently gives you questionable responses and/or steals massive amounts of human-generated content.

Lift-Ticket, the red vehicle recovery truck, in vehicle mode. He has the word "Wrecker" written on the side. What this means in his universe, nobody knows.

BurnOut in his handsome black with red striping vehicle mode. I used to think Burnout was just something I suffered but now it is something I own.

Lift-ticket (left) and BurnOut (right) in robot modes. These characters are both the third iterations of each mold that I own. That tends to be as far as I take my Collecting before it feels egregious and awful and simply pissing cash into the Hasbro money machine. But I got both figures on deep discounts, which helps alleviate that feeling somewhat.

Magnificus in robot mode. His Microscope slash Shoulder cannon apparently allows him to enbiggen microscopic objects. It does this so well it connected to a bona-fide Microverse!

I had cause to bring a tea table in from the garage, and as I was brushing away the worst of the dust and cobwebs, I scraped the bejezus out of my right hand (specifically my pinkie and ring and middle fingers). A plaster has been applied to the worst damage.

Wasps think home-renovation shows are tiresome.

OK but knowing what we do about how wasps know who belongs to what hive by what hive they *smell* like, and how likely it is that they’re *really* good at distinguishing paper smells, maybe it wasn’t the color they were reacting to as much as the changing smells?

If a piece of red paper was placed at the entrance to a yellowjacket nest, it would create great excitement among the returning foragers, causing them to fly around in a confused manner rather than entering the nest with clear intent and purpose. After three hours the wasps became accustomed to their decorated doorway, and went in and out as if nothing had changed. If the red decor was then replaced with blue, the wasps once again became excited, but they adjusted to the change more quickly than they did the first time. Remove the paper altogether, and returning wasps were once again confused. Margaret reported an even cheekier experiment, in which the red decor was moved almost a metre away. The wasps chose the nestless red entrance instead of their undecorated real nest entrance. If you kept changing the colours, the wasps became desensitised over time and, like a child tiring of a game, ended up ignoring any decor change.

This lovely tiled floor emerged from under our hall carpet today. I would have told the carpet fitter to not cover it up... until we saw that whoever had laid the floor had screwed through the tiles & damaged them. What a shame!

Who on earth uses screws to tile a floor?

A pretty rust coloured tiled floor with diamond patterned edging, which was found under our old hall carpet.
The tiles had been laid by screwing through them, and were damaged, so we had to cover them up again.

Feeling more refreshed today aftrr the rush of mass murders and horrible police brutality murder of Tyre Nichols. The excessive violence almost gave me a sense of despair. One thing is certain; things must change in order for there to be a return to sanity in this country.

I decided to use my time while in recess to make some changes at home. We are replacing our old standard light bulbs with LEDs. Not only does the light appear purer to me, but it will save us some money on our energy usage. Of course, we used this as an excuse to modernize the small home office - new bulbs require new lamps. Inexpensive interior decoration at its finest!
