Today in #Valheim Sten and I built a Drakkar and set sail for adventure. The journey was long and difficult, firstly navigating waters around the Mistlands, and then into the red near-boiling waters of the Ashlands.
We encountered a new serpent creature in the steaming ocean, the terrifying Bonemaw! Through the thick steam rising all around us, we saw giant jagged rocks reaching through the ocean towards the blood coloured sky where we encountered the horrific giant vultures patrolling everywhere.
We were feeling quite battle-weary navigating through the treacherous rocks and defending the ship from attacks coming above and below, when Sten called out “Land Ahoy!”, signaling that the coast was in sight. I pushed the Drakkar into one of the tall jagged rocks and jumped off the ship onto the side of the rock, precariously standing on a narrow ledge. I hammered out a workbench, quickly repaired the damage to the ship, and built a portal that immediately connected to a portal back home in Weston Hall.
We had made it, and created a foothold. We had made real progress. We were in the Ashlands.
We excitedly jumped down onto the beach where we encountered The Charred, tall, fast skeletal warriors. We encountered lava blobs that would leap at us and explode. We also encountered more giant vultures. They were all there to welcome us properly. And by properly, I mean they wiped us out. Very quickly.
Fortunately, the portal was set up, and we were able to quickly return and die several more times in quick succession. The Ashlands is no joke.
Skyfire and Firlefanz came for a look and also died several times. After many attempts, we managed to explore a little of the nearby area and collect some new material from this harsh, novel place. The new materials unlocked a wealth of new build pieces and crafting items. It’s going to be a hard slog in the Ashlands, but progress was definitely made tonight.
The second and last issue of CVG, which was included with the lovely donation a couple of weeks ago has just been released.
For the holographic Sonic sticker on the front, I had to cheat, like I've had to do on that one issue of Mean Machines as well as the premier issue of Total Control, where the cover was fully reflective and this can't be scanned.
This part is a photograph with the light hitting the image just right instead of a scan.
Otherwise, you'd just see a square black smudge.

Im doing the r/backloggd 2026 challenge.
Here’s my list: https://bckl.gg/qCiD
I was kinda worried at not being able to play 26 games but turns out a lot of these games can replace doomscrolling and a lot are already on my backlog which is perfect.
More about the challenge: https://www.reddit.com/r/backloggd/comments/1q2zmhd/introducing_the_rbackloggd_challenge_2026/
Sometimes a game just grabs me and I can't switch to anything else until I've completed it.
This time it was the original Dead Space (on Steam Deck). I haven't played since Xbox360 on launch.
It's still tense, capable of making me jump and still holds up really well 17 years later with a solid 9 hour campaign.
Plus Issac, the hero, I think, still has the coolest space space suit ever!
A few days rest and I'll dive into Dead Space 2!
8th day of #365DaysOfGaming in 2026~
#ShareYourGames time! Guilty Gear Xrd Sign PS3 with Vocal Collection Audio CD~ I remembered it took so long for GG series to have new one after GG2, and this is such a delight game to have and play back in 2014!
GG Series are so fun!
Now that I've finished making videos for the foreseeable future, it's time to get back to my gaming queue.🙂 I'm starting the year with the original *Fallout*. I tried playing *Fallout 3* a long time ago, but found the world so thoroughly unappealing that I abandoned it fairly quickly. Let's see if starting from the beginning helps.
I'm still impressed that a Skyrim mod has such a great soundtrack.
Also I still love Lara Loft's voice in German and in English 🙂↕️♥️

The newest 'Valorant' cinematic hit me quite hard and the Season 2026 cinematic for 'League of Legends' made me unexpectedly happy 🫶🏻
It was great to see Sona in a cinematic, once, and I don't think I have to stress how happy Shyvana's appearance made me feel 🥰

Today in #valheim, Old Knarr defeated the Elder. The fight was easy, but a bit long and boring. Back in his base, Old Knarr got a bit silly.
All of these games are on Nintendo Switch Online now, but I think the best way to play them is with one of the various colorization or DX hacks. These tend to take advantage of the increased power of the Game Boy Color to reduce or element showdown that plagues the latter games.
I love all of these games. They are not the best games in the Mega Man series, but I find them to be some of the most interesting, original, weird, and underappreciated. If I had to rank them, it would be V > IV > III > I > II, but honestly, I enjoy each one, good and bad.
I'd love to hear from others that have experience/love/appreciate for these games too! (8/8) #shareyourgames #megaMan #rockman #gameboy
Today, in #valheim, I finished my three-session mission to reach the Elder location. It is on a small peninsula connecting two larger islands, so it looks defendable..
On my journeys, I found:
- Several swamps and mountains,
- An arena,
- Three Draughr villages,
- Multiple troll caves (now vacant),
- death,
- Hildir,
- Haldor,
- and lots of loot.
My daughter has to sleep, so i will fight the elder in the next session so she can cheer me on.
I just finished replaying Tanglewood (1987 puzzle-adventure game, not the unrelated more recent platformer with the same name). I really enjoyed it. But I also find it interesting how game design principles have changed over time. A large amount of the time I spent playing Tanglewood, I was actually hand-drawing maps; and I don't think anyone would ever win the game without doing that (aside from using a walkthrough). 🧵
I can't believe I beat my new high score so quickly. My first double-S!
Here's a silly #valheim screen shot. Today, I picked up a hitchhiker on a mining expedition.
The rest of the session was eventful, but did not yield much progress. I fought a troll, a bear and thier greydwarf buddies at the same time and finally defeated them all. I also raided a burial chamber in search of surtling cores, but did not find any.
