Remembering Shel Talmy!

“‘Cause he gets up in the morning
And he goes to work at nine
And he comes back home at five-thirty
Gets the same train every time
‘Cause his world is built ’round punctuality
It never fails”

Well Respected Man

Remembering Shel Talmy!

“And he's oh, so good
And he's oh, so fine
And he's oh, so healthy
In his body and his mind
He's a well respected man about town
Doing the best things so conservatively”

Enjoy!

Also #RIP #ShelTalmy (1937-2024); more sad news keep coming in.

He was a producer best known with his work with #TheWho. Personally, I associate him w/early #RoyHarper albums, so playing that stuff now. "McGoohan's Blues" is a 20-minute live-take full of lyrics; producer's skill here was not to mess about with the perfect song/vision, just record it.

Talmy used to be active in internet early 90s, and he even replied to some of my e-mails, sharing some anecdotes. Thanks for the mails & music!

Tired of Waiting for You

This classic song by The Kinks was #1 on this day in 1965. It represented a change of pace for the band. #ShelTalmy was able to produce the perfect example of what would become The Kinks trademark sound for decades to come. An intellectually and emotionally mature lyric with a melodic song structure, enhanced by the power of Dave Davies adaptable guitar work.
