Ava's head is on the arm of my recliner, her butt is on the couch, and her front legs are dangling in mid-air. But somehow... she's comfortable and falling asleep.

A professional family photo, when our family was only myself, my husband, and our new dog Tigger.

I am behind my husband (much thinner than I am today), with my light brown hair pulled back and one arm around him, peaking over his shoulder. He is in the foreground, with dark hair and glasses, and he is holding Tigger (a small, mostly brown dog with lots of long fur) in his arms.

An adult Sheltie (Daisy) buried in a pile of autumn leaves. She is looking up at the camera and making a "woo-woo" sound. Daisy always loved to play in the leaf piles, and loved it when we threw leaves onto her.

A teenage girl (my daughter Mary) holding a Shetland Sheepdog in her arms. This was Daisy's last day. Daisy died of bladder cancer on 28 Jan 2019, a few days shy of her 16th birthday.

A simple memorial drawn by my daughter Mary. She drew two pawprints, one above the other. Next to the top pawprint, she wrote "02/05/03 to 01/28/12, Miss Daisy" and next to the lower one she wrote "02/03/93 to 02/11/12, Tigger."
