Mistodon: Kalcha likes to revisit and remix some of his favorites among his #ShiftJIS textmode adaptations of prog album covers, updating them to be seasonal. Here we have an assortment of Halloweenified #KingCrimson and #Yes album cover designs, included in last year's MIST1022 artpack collection.

King Crimson and Yes album covers are (One More Red Nightmare, 21st Century Schizoid Man, Tales of Topographic Oceans) are given Shift JIS textmode adaptations, playing up Halloweeny connections like an emphasis on the numerals 10 and 31 on an altimeter and a decibel gauge.

Mistodon: possibly something was lost in translation from the Japanese, but I think that the minimalist gag in this #ShiftJIS comic strip by Kalcha is still fundamentally intelligible: is it an arrow directing your attention down, or a pit? ("Why not both?!") This piece was included in the MIST0418 artpack collection.

In a vertical arrangement of text art comic strip panels, a... caterpillar? ... slowly works its way from left to right, until falling down into the pit formed by the arrow indicating the next panel, exclaiming as it does: "THAT'S ALL NATS?"

#introduction Greetings, everyone, from the Mistigris computer art collective! We started releasing artpacks in area code 604's #BBS PC underground scene in 1994, full of #ANSIart, #ASCIIart, #MODmusic, #EMags and other good stuff, extending into the early Internet (first homepage on Geocities, many hours whiled away on the IRC) but drying up and evaporating by the turn of the century in the transition from the BBS/CLI to Web/GUI paradigm.

Then we stewed in nostalgia until hosting a reunion for our 20th anniversary in 2014, which got us back on track to releasing artpacks again -- now with representation from vintage #textmode art fellow traveler forms such as #PETSCII, #ShiftJIS and #teletext!
