i received an email from the #shipaton to get a gift
it was a nice period because I learned about:
- shipping fast
- app monetization
- development strategy to save time
- putting user value first
it was fun to be part of it. hope to see it every year!
@FoosballApp didn't work out, and I didn't win the #ShipATon hackathon, but I was able to learn how subscriptions are handled at Apple with the help of @revenuecat.
Side projects can fail. That's a fact.
I'm looking forward and don't want to give up on this niche topic completely. The next project related to my passion is in the starting blocks. I just want to collect my thoughts on it. 💭
A lot of iOS developers built a habit tracker
Here's what I learned building mine for #shipaton:
- SwiftData is tricky
- CloudKit can be tedious to test
- CKSyncEngine is not wholly documented
- AI can unblock you
What did you learn with your app?
Since I missed the #shipaton deadline, I removed revenuecat sdk from Ghost. Storekit 2 isn't harder at all! And I don't need to worry about build scripts to inject the api key.

Several days have passed since #shipaton
What are your post-submission feelings?
When I mentioned that I would continue developing my @FoosballApp after the #ShipATon Hackathon, it wasn't just an empty promise. Today, I found the solution to the fundamental issues in the app that will allow interaction with other players and playing matches together. Unfortunately, I didn't include this in the submission form for the hackathon, but we always learn something new along the way. Game Center takes care of a lot for me, and version 1.0.4 is going to be a big and important update.
