this afternoon I am building a park to separate an industrial zone from a residential zone. All is well again...

Really back into my flow on Sim City 4 now, downtown residential towers, parks and shops....all coming together...

Awww, I must have built this when Andre Braugher died.
This reminds me I need to install whatever version of VMware workstation I used to create the windows 7 environment I can create custom stuff for Sim City4 in.

Ahhh, Sim City is back.
My Zen Garden has returned.
There's still the matter of the past month's work which I'm sure I uploaded to Proton Drive and have raised a ticket about....but the city is for the most part back and running.

The game is loading, there are still graphical issue (all the buildings are missing) but I've seen that problem before elsewhere and I'm sure it can be fixed.
A relief. I'll come back to this when I'm in a better frame of mind, for now I shall try to relax.

Trying to get my Sim City up and running like it was before. For some reason the game won't load, perhaps a missing file, I dunno.....it's very stressful right now. Waiting for a response on Simtropolis to see if some of the Brains there have ideas. It's probably something simple but right now it all feels impossible.😞

Incidentally, I purchased this game for £20 in 2013, and it has given me thousands of hours of gameplay and will give me thousands of hours more (especially if I ever figure out how to make my own buildings in Blender)

The Games Industry don't make games like this very often for that reason I suspect.

Having Anna Von Hausswolff playing in the background as I build in Sim City gives it an epic feel, fitting as it's one of the four capital tiles of my megacity that I'm working on, the oldest and the one with government, and central courts and all that stuff.

I just love the amount of thought other mayors give to their cities, while you're grinding away on the build your mind does wonder as to why this neighbourhood is here, and event does this park commemorate, the Worldbuilding just happens!

"just one more thing...." (but in the Gaming sense, not the Columbo sense)

Hong Kong residential towers are some of the most popular user creations in Sim City, the legendary HK BAT team creating them during some golden age 15+ years ago. I'm scared to look if the towers smouldering in Hong Kong today were among those modelled.
Such awful Grenfell memories stirring, that tragedy left such a mental scar on this town. 😔

Along the bottom of the image is a brick embankment of a waterfront, interrupted in the centre right by a highway bridge (somewhat styled after the Brooklyn Bridge.

Behind the embankment and to the left are 13 white residential towers, some diagonal, some orthological. Ground level parks and pedestrian plazas lead to a road and commercial buildings of European design.
One the other side of the grey highway are six rectangular Hong Kong style residential towers of differing design and colour schemes, the tallest of which is between 30-35 floors

There are no country clubs within my city in Sim City 4, the only golf courses are 'wacky', we have parks and Nature instead. Fuck that 'exclusive club' shit, that can stay back on Earth, ...distant Earth....
