Ryan Condal confirma que “House of the Dragon” chegará ao fim na 4ª temporada

O showrunner e produtor executivo Ryan Condal confirmou que a série “House Of The Dragon” (A Casa do Dragão) será encerrada oficialmente em sua 4ª temporada. A revelação foi feita durante a participação de Condal no podcast Escape Hatch, onde ele comentou o estágio da produção e os planos finais para o ambicioso drama épico.

Segundo Condal, os roteiros da quarta temporada já começaram a ser escritos e servirão como o encerramento definitivo da saga. “Nós começamos a escrita dos roteiros da 4ª temporada, e ela será a última da série. Acredito que tudo está caminhando de forma muito positiva”, afirmou o criador, deixando claro que a decisão faz parte de um planejamento narrativo fechado, e não de um cancelamento.

O produtor também atualizou o status da 3ª temporada, cujas filmagens foram concluídas no fim de outubro e que agora se encontra totalmente em pós-produção. Ele descreveu o processo como fisicamente exaustivo, mas criativamente estimulante, chegando a classificá-lo como o período mais feliz de sua trajetória na série. “Foi uma produção gigantesca. Estou cansado fisicamente, mas extremamente animado com o material que estamos vendo agora”, disse.

Apesar do sucesso contínuo da franquia Game of Thrones, Condal ressaltou que definir um ponto final claro é essencial para manter a força dramática da história. Com apenas mais uma temporada pela frente, a equipe criativa poderá “não guardar nada” e entregar um desfecho completo e coeso para a chamada Dança dos Dragões, conflito central que marca o declínio da Casa Targaryen.

A decisão também ecoa comentários anteriores de George R.R. Martin, autor de Fogo e Sangue, que já havia indicado em seu blog pessoal que seriam necessárias quatro temporadas para adaptar a história com a profundidade adequada. Na época da renovação, o executivo Casey Bloys, chefe de programação da HBO, confirmou que esse sempre foi o plano.

Enquanto isso, a HBO segue apostando no universo de Westeros a longo prazo. A 3ª temporada de “House of the Dragon” está prevista para estrear no verão de 2026, enquanto a quarta e última leva de episódios deve chegar apenas em 2028. Paralelamente, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms estreia em janeiro de 2026 e já tem uma segunda temporada programada para 2027.

Baseada no livro “Fogo e Sangue”, de George R.R. Martin, House of the Dragon se passa cerca de 200 anos antes dos eventos de Game of Thrones e acompanha o auge e a queda da Casa Targaryen. O elenco da terceira temporada inclui Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, entre outros. Além de Condal e Martin, a produção executiva conta com Sara Hess, Melissa Bernstein, Vince Gerardis e Kevin de la Noy.

A 3ª Temporada de “House Of The Dragon” (A Casa do Dragão) estreia em junho na HBO e no catálogo da HBO Max.

Today would have been Terence Davies’s 80th birthday.

A bit of me still finds it hard to believe that he’s gone when he still had so much passion for films and for making them.

Anyone in London or within travelling distance - the current BFI retrospective season devoted to Terence and his work is fabulous.

It runs till the end of this month.

Everything from the extraordinary ‘trilogy’ to his most recent Siegfried Sassoon biopic. I’ve been to 4 films in the programme so far and they’ve all been wonderful.

These are films to see in the cinema.

Yesterday I was at a BFI event hosted by Mark Kermode in memory of the film director Terence Davies.

These things can end up being lots of speechifying, but last night’s commemoration was fabulous.

Mark was a brilliant host - passionate about Terence’s work but also genuinely interested in what others had to say.

And the guests were great. They ranged from actors and crew who’d worked on the films to the guys from Hurricane Films who got Terence back making movies again, his personal trainer-turned-manager and a neighbour who became a close friend during lockdown and ended up the co-executor of his estate.

Everybody was so interesting and I learnt a lot more about the man and his working methods.

And we also got to watch clips from some of the films and saw a short with Terence’s poetry being read by Simon Russell Beale.
