#SongBaton

Today's #tunetuesday theme makes me think that in France we have a radio station -- FIP -- that took the concept of #SongBaton to a whole new level: they play in general 3 songs in a row that are somehow linked (may be a theme, may be the usage of some specific instruments, may be an atmosphere...). And there's never any ads, and close to no talking. These people are crazy, but crazy good! And there's also thematic web radios (they even did an ephemeral metal radio a few years ago)

Ah, #TuneTuesday. The theme this time is #SongBaton. My picks are:
Africa by TOTO youtu.be/FTQbiNvZqaY
Down Under by Men At Work youtu.be/XfR9iY5y94s

Simply because of my college friend Mark, who whenever he was in charge of music, would ALWAYS put these two on back-to-back. It was his rule! (And it was a pretty good rule)

For #tunetuesday #songbaton how about two tunes that come together to form the baitest mix. Guaranteed to get groans from your mates

Thought of one for @Kitty's #TuneTuesday theme this week, #SongBaton - one song that goes into another.

These are next to each other on the album. When radio plays them, they ALWAYS play them both, they go together so well.

Zep - Heartbreaker into Living Loving Maid. Vinyl pops, crackles and all! The TOO HOT version with too much bass!

Today's #TuneTuesday from @Kitty & @sharazluke features the #SongBaton : two songs that sound best together. Here's two sequential songs from the final album from Hüsker Dü, Warehouse: Songs and Stories (1987). I love how the end of the first song, written and sung by drummer Grant Hart, segues perfectly into the beginning of the next, written and sung by guitarist Bob Mould. Alas, 'twas not to last.

Hey my Masto friends. I’m back from the alps just in time for my fav time of the Fedi week with @Kitty wonderful #TuneTuesday

The theme (which I don’t remember submitting 😆) is #SongBaton and when I’m on the decks these 2 must go back-to-back.

The great Lionel Richie and All Night Long

followed by the equally magnificent Luther Vandross and Stop To Love.

@Kitty and @sharazluke pair up to give us this week's #TuneTuesday theme - #SongBaton - pairs of songs that work together.

On the album, these are listed as one song, but they were released as two singles with videos that flow into each other, and I love that. They feel distinct but belong together.

Green Day - Holiday / Boulevard of Broken Dreams

#TuneTuesday #SongBaton Songs that should be played back-to-back, in order. One of my favorite moments on any album ever is on Radiohead’s Kid A, as the cacophony of The National Anthem fades into a dissonant, quiet orchestral moment that leads into the bleak, sparse arrangement of How to Disappear Completely. This cover version doesn’t quite capture the moment as the album does, but it’s beautiful nonetheless.

So the theme for #tunetuesday is a pair of songs that always go together, aka a #songbaton? Well, I have the perfect examples:

Admit it #Mario fans, you’ve always listened to these two Mario & Luigi: Dream Team songs one after another. The former is designed as the intro for the latter, and taking them out of that context just seems weird.

In @Kitty's #TuneTuesday, the topic of #SongBaton, sponsored by @sharazluke: songs that ought to be followed by another specific song.
As this is #ProgTuesday, too, and the genre almost begs for it, let's talk twice about Dream Theater. 🧵

1. Meta Album Cycle

Not just songs, but whole albums can pass the baton: MP2SfaM's "Scene Nine: Finally Free" ties into SDoIT's "The Glass Prison" and "VIII. Losing Time/Grand Finale" into ToT's "As I Am" and so on up to Octavarium.

Okay, we're going a bit classical and literal for #TuneTuesday today and the #SongBaton theme. 🏃

Let's start with some 16th century polyphony! songwhip.com/new-york-polyphon

And pass that tune along 3+ centuries later to Ralph Vaughan Williams who makes the lush Tallis Fantasia: songwhip.com/ralphvaughanwilli

And we'd love to pass this baton to our community AND any other open source project reading this! Musical interludes are good for everyone. 🎧

#TuneTuesday #SongBaton oh oh oh here, pick me!

Today's theme is a song that should be followed by another specific song. I think I've got two good pairs of songs.

Well, as for the first, it's two songs that come after one another on the album they're on, *but* for the longest time I didn't realize they're two songs. I always thought it was just one! 🤯 There's a pause between the two, but it feels like just a breath.

For today’s #TuneTuesday from @Kitty, the theme is #SongBaton (a song that should be followed by another specific song) suggested by @sharazluke

These seem to go together to me, though I’m not sure of my reasoning, and they are both opening tracks from debut albums.

Two tracks from the album by (AKA of ).

Why?

Because one literally provided the basis for the other:

For "Interlude: Dawn", Yoongi reversed and chopped the keyboard chords of "Snooze", added guitar and drums.

The theme for #TuneTuesday this week is #SongBaton, or two songs that in together particularly well for whatever reason. It made me think of the songs that I used to put on at the end of a tape when I copied an album, and which I still expect to hear now, even if they're very different artists. Unfortunately I can't remember any of the combinations, so instead I'm going to choose two songs that played one after another on shuffle one time, which became the basis for a playlist... 1/2

hosted by @Kitty has the theme by @sharazluke - songs that you think should go together.

Caves' speedy-chunky melodic punk always get me hyped up and the first two tracks on Betterment are definitely a baton pass that seems like it happened because they were so excited about their own music. You love to see it.
