Today I saw an ad for a mother of pearl #Omega #Speedmaster reduced on bracelet reference 3534.70.00 for sale. You might know that I own myself a MOP Speedmaster reduced on straps reference 3802.70.56. Since both #watches are very uncommon, I thought it would be a good opportunity to talk about something that is not well known considering their rarity. 1/2 #watchesofmastodon

For decades, I've enjoyed, admired, and adored the #Omega #Speedmaster, the watch that NASA relied on, along with the Pickett N600 slide rule, on their moon missions. But it was, is, and will always be a humble, reliable "tool watch", one with a Velcro strap, a shatter-proof (cheap, but zero-gravity-safe) hesalite crystal, and a comparatively-simple, manual-wind Calibre 321/861 movement.

Now, Omega is making hyper-rare, meteorite-faced Moonwatch; steel-gold two-tone Speedster; diamond-studded jewellery; a co-axial escapement version; MoonSwatch fashion piece—all rather pointless and pretentious.

Went to “SPACE” - a six course tasting menu at Six By Nico in Birmingham.

We’ve been there a few times for other menus and it’s always been incredible.

Naturally I had to wear a space themed watch. Speedmaster ftw!

Also fun fact: I bought this watch exactly 50 years to the day of the moon landing :)
