The Lashunta have never quite forgotten the Moqeva. For twenty thousand years these snakelike folk have fueled their nightmares. Yet how does that compare to the fact that the Lashunta exterminated them?

The Lashunta claim the Moqeva hunted them for food and sport - thralls for the larder. Yet it is also true that ~Midi shahi o'inyaeaza-shei,~ - 'history is written by the victors,' which even the Lashunta's sages acknowledge. So what really happened in Castrovel's prehistory, barely remembered in the Lashunta's oldest legends, to spark this interspecial war? How could a barely bronze-age collection of nomadic clans with a talent for communing with trees and hunting-lizards overthrow an ancient, advanced, eldritchly mighty civilization?

Personal Note: much as I'm grateful Paizo included Serpentfolk, I feel like they lack something compared to D&D's Yuan Ti. They just had something so spectacularly abominable in their complex makeup, leaving everything else seem hollow. Ah, well. There's a reason I love homebrew.

This pic drew me as a theme for the last day of Pride Month. It makes me think of an end of a party, maybe where the euphoria is fading, and a dimmer day rises ahead. Maybe like two Korasha belonging to dffferent feuding houses (if one were to read this scene into the picture) who for a brief mirthtide find solace in each others' arms.
...And yet Pride Month wasn't really a party, was it? And things haven't really ended.
In closing, let me offer this: unto the dreamers, the fighters, and survivors, and unto the lonely, the weary, and those seeking acceptance, may you find your strength in this real world and a place where you can stand fast. And if my imaginary world here gives you a respite, however brief, then I am grateful.

The artist meant for this to be a dragon (Glaurung, if memory serves). Yet if one changed the scale, why couldn't it be a Shotalashu? Which begs the question: why would a Shota be sitting on a bed of gold?

The prospect of psychically bonded mounts raises so many possibilities beyond merely transport. If a Lashunta rider needs something guarded, who better to guard? Also, something tells me Shotalashu make the best baby-sitters. Who's going to mess with a kid watched by a horse-sized lizard with claws designed for tree-climbing?

Yofol (/jo.fɔl:/; animal): wreckstead; ruin; ghosttown

Despite the Lashunta maintaining a continuous civilization for 12,000 Earth/Golarion years, their world does not lack for ruins. These include abandoned cities like Hesenya that once sat between the Yaro Valley and the Lower Marshes until the Thief-Queens razed it, Reiefya that once sat within the delta and rivaled Qabarat, Halla of the Warrior-Princesses, Lost Hoshiasa, which was not even a Lashunta city but ruled by the alien Moqeva, and the legend overshadowing them all: Valmaea, the Colonies’ last outpost against the conquering Formian swarms. Castrovel has no end of ruins to explore if one is willing to risk a little danger.

Lashunta Proverb
~Keiami haenura o ahyela:~
Literal Translation: “Taste the blossom if/when canny.”
Analogs:
“Gather ye rosebuds while ye may.”
“Carpe Diem.”

The imperative verb ~keiami~ - taste - may seem like an odd choice, since one might more naturally smell blossoms. However, under Lashunta humor’s love for sous-entendres, ~haenu~ - ‘blossom/flower’ when it appears in the feminine gender as ~haene~, is a common polite reference for that most feminine of organs. The related phrase ~keiamassi haenere~ - tasting the female blossom, is a reference to a moderately explicit act of submission under the Lashunta Damaya Matriarchy. Thus the proverb alludes not only to a sexual innuendo, but also a suggestion of the value of sacrificing one’s ego.

Breakdown:
Keiami - direct imperative of ~keiamassi~: to taste.
Haenura - accusative of ~haenu~ (animal): flower; blossom
O: secondary clause-marker
Ahyela - 3rd-person common, dependent mood of ~ahassi~: to be possible/canny

Some, like Lady Eneae the Old, have even been kidnapped to the Fey Realm, to return centuries later.

Ofu (/o:fu./; animal): mesa; acropolis; elevated stronghold

~Ofu~ are a noteworthy feature of many Lashunta cities since ancient times. Son, the legendary first city on the Yaro Valley, was founded upon a rocky mesa upon the Isle of Aelau, by Queen Eieshe as a stronghold against the Moqeva. As an acropolis, it holds the city’s government buildings and temples, including the first and oldest temple to Matarasse - Burning-Mother - even today. The ~ofu~ of Qabarat, sitting on a shelf within the Stormshield’s inner slope above Ship’s End and the river marshes, holds wonders beyond imagination: a collection of art, architecture, sacred tree shrines, and wealth unmatched anywhere else. Further South within the Straits of Glory sits Ofu-Vou: a whole steep-sided island holding a fortified harbor whose ancient pirate-queens once raided the coasts on two continents. It is now the smallest but most spirited member of Valmayana and that confederation’s forward base to fight and take back the Colonies from the Formians.
Yet the greatest ~ofu~ by far is Ofu-Laubu - Laubu Mesa - the Northern Crowngem: a whole city built almost a mile over the surrounding hills and desert, upon a plateau so wide that some citizens have never come down below. It is home to the legendary Thakasa-skyriders, and ruled by a mysterious god-queen whose own subjects dare not look at her face. The ancient Thief-Queens dashed their armies against its base, only to fail as skyriders shot...
