#StreetsblogNYC just published a piece on a new class action lawsuit in federal court against the #NYPD, for its well-documented practice of ticketing cyclists who follow the leading pedestrian interval or #LPI.
#NYC cyclists have been instructed BY LAW to do this since 2019, but cops continue ticketing #bikenyc — and now summonsing them to criminal court — for this LEGAL and SAFE behvaior.
The attorney is seeking additional plaintiffs to join the case.

*operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs
*driving the wrong way
*disobeying a red light
*failure to stop at a stop sign.
The police say this is in response to 311 complaints, but decline to cite data.

Disorder in the Court: U.S. DOT Lawyers Upload Memo Admitting Their Congestion Pricing Case is Weak
Attorneys for the Federal Highway Administration, seemingly by mistake, uploaded an internal legal strategy memo into the record of the MTA's lawsuit against U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy over his illegal order to end congestion pricing — and the memo discussed how difficult it will be for Duffy to win.
Instead of filing documents that were expected to be part of Duffy's defense for withdrawing approval for congestion pricing, lawyers instead uploaded an email sent on April 11 from Assistant U.S. Attorneys Dominika Tarczynska, David Farber and Christine Poscablo discussing the weaknesses in the federal case and charting a different, but no more guaranteed way, to end the toll.

Adams caves and kills (part of) another people-first DOT project. Now southbound #bikenyc will have to cross vehicular traffic to then cross the sharrow death zone of lower Ashland, before dealing with the ice cream trucks that always block the plaza at Atlantic.
