Schon fast ein Standortvorteil. Mit einer Anmeldung bei der Münchner Stadtbibliothek (20€/Jahr, 10€ ermässigt) kriegt man vollen Zugriff auf Statista, über https://muenchen.overdrive.com lädt man sich englischsprachige ebooks direkt auf dem ebook Reader (bei mir ein PocketBook), Riffreporter kriegt man auch und noch einiges mehr. There was no sense of impending doom in any of the libraries, only a sense of commitment to the local community. Lots of flyers on bulletin boards for counseling sessions, pride month celebrations, concert notices, housecleaning help, or art contests.
Hopefully we’ll be able to keep all 66 of these facilities open and thriving in the communities they serve so well.

Gestern habe ich von @riffreporter gehört und bin dem Account mal gefolgt. Heute der erste Beitrag in der Timeline und ich muss feststellen, dass eine recht harte Paywall verwendet wird. Ein Abo wollte ich mir nicht holen, da ich den Service nicht testen konnte. Doch dann! Die Stadtbibliothek München hat einen Bibliothekszugang und somit habe ich Zugriff auf alle Artikel. Danke Stadtbibliothek München!

Getting Premium access to https://statista.com as part of my #Munich public library membership is by itself such a big reason to #SupportYourLibrary

Paywall? What paywall? My public library in #Munich gives me digital access to hundreds of newspapers and magazines. #SupportYourLibrary

And as a FYI (For Your Interest): iTunes/Music on MacOS can *still* just rip music CDs you insert into a Superdrive. It'll happily fetch the song titles and album art too. Oh. And did you know that many libraries will happily lend you music CDs? And that making copies of unprotected music CDs for private use this way is, at least in Germany, 100% legal? If you didn't, now you do :) So go and fill your music collection for (almost) free instead of paying rent!

FTR. In #Germany (and I guess in many more countries) you can borrow CDs from your local library, legally rip them at home to your private music collection, bring the CDs back to the library and enjoy the music forever. Your friendly library has paid for this. #SupportYourLibrary

In other news, on my way back home from the ophthalmologist,
I stepped in to the local library which was on the way and fixed my library card login problem. I can now read tons of newspapers and magazines via my Munich library account, watch cinematic specialties via streaming at https://muenchen.filmfriend.de and get physical books, CDs and DVDs. All for 20€/year. #SupportYourLibrary
