"A glimmer of hope." ✨ Next stop: #TPAC 2025—#W3C’s annual conference, this year in Kōbe, with significant updates on #WebML & #WebApps. Devs on Reddit read our minutes and called our work on #WebInstall "a glimmer of hope." This is exactly why I do this! reddit.com/r/PWA/comments/1oub

I gotta say... I met so many cool people at W3C #TPAC

It was especially great meeting all the incredible champions who have dedicated their careers to accessibility work.

Published last week at : "Preventing Abuse of Digital Credentials" a @tag finding I worked on with Mozilla's Martin Thomson.

"...This document explores some of [the possibilities for abuse of digital credentials], with a focus on the presentation of government-issued digital credentials. Misuse of these systems risks doing irreparable harm to individual autonomy online."

@davatron5000 Way to wait til the _end_ of to propose a pretty nice addition to the browsing experience. Now how will implementors find any time to point out all the potential security issues with this idea? 🤪

I could definitely see value to this, but transport of that sort of data does feel like vulnerability. Interesting to hear whether it's one that could be overcome...

Hanging out with the awesome, hand chiseled, @openwebdocs crew @estelle, @floscholz and Will Bamberg at @w3c in Kobe!

A group of four individuals stands in front of a backdrop featuring the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) logo. They are smiling and posing together. The setting appears to be a conference or event, with name badges visible on their attire.

TIL that when you run `el.attachShadow({mode: "open" })` on an element with DSD it _clears_ the children while leaving the initial shadow root.

Achievement unlocked.

A LEGO figure in a clear plastic bag, holding a video game controller, with a w3c logo sticker on it, is attached to a name badge. The badge displays the name "Daniel" and mentions "Samsung Electronics" along with the event details for "TPAC 2025”.

Have we built a web that has presumed a given business model? Great question from the #TPAC discussion on the #FutureOfTheOpenWeb today.
