New paper ! We measured expected directional effects on thermal infrared satellite images from #TRISHNA, #LSTM or #SBG missions, using simultaneous acquisitions from #LANDSAT and an aerial imager #MASTER from @NASAJPL

Differences up to 4.5 degrees in #TRISHNA field of view have been observed, which can be corrected to less than 2°K using very simple models.

For more details and to access the paper : labo.obs-mip.fr/multitemp/hr-t

The picture shows 9 polar diagrams (view zenith angle as radius and azimuth viewing angle as azimuth), for the temperature differences for scenes observed simultaneously by LANDSAT satellite, and by the MASTER aerial imager. Differences up to 6°K are observed near the solar direction (yellow star), when the imager only sees the sunlit part of the landsacpe (we call that the hot spot)

@g_fiske @TGuinaldo

There will be @cnes @isro #TRISHNA mission in 2025, followed by @CopernicusEU #LSTM in 2029. However, arctic acquisitions are not fully granted, it might be useful for you to reach the mission PI's (I can send the names in DM).

@EricFielding
Thanks, one good point for Mastodon too !
It often happens, don't worry. One day, I'll forget to say #Trishna is a CNES/ISRO spacecraft.
