Die Neuauflage von #TakeshisCastle von Amazon war die letzten Tage echt mein Glücklichkeitshafen. Alles super wild und überdreht aber man sieht, dass alle Beteiligten ne Menge Spass hatten.
(Aber bloß nicht die runtergeschnittene deutsche Version schauen, die längere japanische mit Untertiteln ist sehr viel besser.)
The new 2023 series of #TakeshisCastle (on Prime Video here) is freaking glorious. Most of the time when a series is revived, it comes off as a shambling uncanny valley thing, like someone turned up on your birthday wearing your deceased grandmother's skin and telling you how you’ve grown. Or worse, it gets made by a different culture, and ends up as a desperately sad cringefest - Red Dwarf USA, Takeshi's Castle UK, Ninja Warrior Australia, ANY Iron Chef but the original etc.
Bring on Season 2.

Tried watching the new Takeshi’s castle on Amazon Prime and truth be told I just didn’t enjoy it.
Tom Davis is ok but a lot of his commentary isn’t too funny. What spoils it for me is Romesh Ranganathan, someone who I usually enjoy but his sneakiness and smugness really detracts from the show.
Holy cow! How did it get past me their was a 2022 revival of "Takeshi's Castle" ( aka MxC aka Most Extreme Elimination Challenge). Apparently funded by Amazon (mixed feelings). This is the Japan exclusive special preview episode (48 mins) with rough English subtitles. All 8 eps are on Prime. Finished the final season of #Disenchantment on #Netflix and we've decided to hit something a little more casual now to close out the night with the new series of Takeshi's Castle commentated upon by Tom Davis and Romesh Ranganathan on #AmazonPrime.

The 2023 version of Takeshi's Castle is a mix of old school and Wipeout. Its also very lenient in letting people pass if they all fail on the first obstacle 🤣. It's super hilarious though. 2 episodes in and I'm loving it
Also watched new Takeshi's Castle. Tom Davis and Romesh Ranganathan do a good job at providing the commentary, and the revival's as barmy as the original. I have a feeling the guy who accidentally destroyed part of the surfboard course will never live that down. #TakeshisCastle
And the new #TakeshisCastle course looks like it was designed by Nintendo. With expected innuendo in the ‘ball cupping’ round, boy bands, more than a few competitors in loincloths, and some guy dressed in a full-sized mascot suit like some giant of kawaii hamster.
