Finished Twilight Out Of Focus.

It was a mixed bag. I really liked the pairing of Hisashi and Mao because they were just good for each other. But I had my qualms about the other parts, starting with how everyone in the club seemed to be gay and how they all had convenient circumstances for sharing rooms where they could make out.
Giichi and Jin worked well as a pair and I liked them bonding over BL manga, though.
Rei and Shion were hard to root for although it ended up being a decent relationship. Despite some improvement, I simply found Shion annoying.
All in all I could have done with a shorter series about just one pair, and would rather have seen them move on to uni or something.

Got my answer, they're all happening in the same timeline, they're just private about their relationships it seems.

The fifth episode of Twilight Out Of Focus took us on a whole different track, leaving Mao and Hisashi behind and turning the camera onto Gichi and Kikuchihara. While Gichi might see him as a rival, it seems that once they become roommates they become the best of friends - and likely more. Also, that gyoza is such a silly detail in here. :BigBlobhajHug:

The fourth episode of Twilight Out Of Focus. *stares blankly* These boys have no self-control, do they? Other things did happen, don't get me wrong, but somehow it felt like we kept ending up in the same place. :blobpeek:

Twilight Out Of Focus somehow feels like typical BL but it has characters with genuine interactions. I like that the “rowdy” looking Hisashi is the more sensitive and gentle type and that he and Mao have each other figured out quite well already at the start of the story.
There is not much beating around the bush and delaying the obvious. Which is also nice.
As of episode 2 I’m a bit worried that the relationship is going to be complicated - Hisashi has to get over a past abusive relationship and I guess it’s not all going to be fluffy. But I’m willing to stay for that because I wish the characters a happy ending immediately.
