The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a mandatory evacuation order for all coastal residents. There is also a county wide mandatory evacuation order for mobile homes, travel trailers and sub-standard housing. Due to Tropical Storm Idalia forecasted to strengthen to a Category 3 hurricane or higher there will not be a county evacuation shelter. All residents identified in this message are encouraged to shelter outside of the county. Once the storm passes there will be a host shelter for those with damage to their homes located at the Forest Capital Hall. All Taylor County residents must be aware that once sustained winds reach 45 miles per hour first responders will not be able to respond to assist you until the event is over.
