#Transport for #London is proposing to close the Capital Call assisted transport service by 31 March 2026. Introduced in 2003 to supplement Taxicard in 10 boroughs with limited taxi access, Capital Call allowed users to book minicabs. As taxi availability has improved and usage has dropped by 58% since 2019/20, #TfL now successfully books over 90% of trips through Taxicard and Dial-a-Ride. TfL plans to reinvest Capital Call funding into enhancing and promoting these services. A consultation is open until 6 August 2025 for feedback on the proposed closure.

#Transport for #London (TfL) has signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement with #EDF Renewables #UK to supply 80 GWh of solar energy annually from a new solar farm in #Longfield, #Essex, enough to power the entire Tube for a year or 29,000 homes. Construction starts in 2026. The project will help decarbonise the National Grid, improve biodiversity by 87%, and create green jobs. As London’s largest electricity consumer, #TfL aims to power 100% of its operations with renewables by 2030, reducing emissions and boosting UK energy security. The deal offers long-term price stability and supports the Mayor’s net zero target.

Pontoon Dock #DLR station will undergo a £43.9m upgrade led by #Transport for #London to improve capacity and accessibility in response to rising demand. Funded by #TfL, #Homes #England, the GLA and developer Lendlease, the project includes six new escalators, a larger mezzanine level, and improved public space with potential for new retail. The station, elevated 13 metres, currently relies heavily on lifts, causing congestion. Upgrades will ease queuing and improve step-free access. Supporting the wider #Silvertown Quays regeneration, the works will help unlock 6,500 homes and 10,000 jobs. Construction begins in summer 2026 and completes by the end of 2028, with the station remaining open throughout.

#Transport for #London (TfL) has expanded its wildflower verges by 130,000m²—around 18 football pitches—bringing the total to 390,000m². This puts #TfL on track to meet its 2026 target of 520,000m² of rewilded space across its road network. These verges boost biodiversity, store more carbon in the soil, and support vital pollinators such as bees and butterflies.

New sites include areas along the A1 in Barnet, A30 near Heathrow, and A312 in Hounslow. TfL now mows these areas less frequently to allow plants to thrive, encouraging wildlife including insects and small mammals.

To mark London Climate Action Week, 12,000 wildflower seed packets have been distributed to the public. TfL, alongside partners including City Hall, is also investing in green infrastructure like sustainable drainage systems, as part of its wider plan to protect and enhance nature in the capital.

#Transport for #London (TfL) is consulting on plans to extend the DLR from Gallions Reach to Thamesmead via Beckton Riverside. The consultation, open from 23 June to 17 August 2025, invites views on the proposed route, station locations, environmental impacts and delivery options.

The extension could unlock 30,000 homes, 10,000 jobs and deliver a £15.6bn economic boost. New stations at Beckton Riverside and Thamesmead Waterfront would improve access to central London and support new town centres.

The project would regenerate two major brownfield sites and link key growth areas. Subject to funding and approval, construction could start in the late 2020s, with services running by the early 2030s.

#TfL is working with local authorities, developers, the GLA and Government to finalise a business case by autumn 2025. Public feedback will shape the next stage of development.

The image is a stylised illustrated map showing a suburban area with an emphasis on transport links. It combines dense residential zones with green spaces. In the top left corner, the "River Thames" is marked. Streets and housing are depicted in white with green outlines to reflect greenery. A blue line indicates the transport route, curving through the area with arrows pointing to "Thamesmead," "Gallions Reach," and "Beckton." Circular station symbols appear along the line. Key labels include "Beckton Depot" next to a large outlined building, with directional arrows showing onward connections.

TfL ImageThis conceptual illustration presents a modern transport scene. A sleek, elevated train travels left to right on a viaduct marked "Thamesmead." Beneath it, a footpath features sketched figures walking and riding scooters. The foreground includes greenery and a body of water, creating a calm setting. In the background, simplified tall buildings form a light-toned cityscape. A blue circular symbol with a horizontal bar, likely a transport logo, appears above. The overall style is artistic and minimal, using muted colours and clean lines.

TfL ImageThis architectural illustration shows a lively urban setting with wide streets used by cyclists and pedestrians, surrounded by contemporary buildings. A street sign in the foreground reads "Central Way" beside planting and people sitting at an outdoor café. On the left, a vertical sign reads "THAMESMEAD." In the background, tall minimalist buildings are visible, some with rooftop greenery. A red double-decker bus, labelled "Thamesmead 229," travels down the road. Green leafy borders frame the image, and a large round transport emblem sits above the scene.

TfL ImageThis digitally illustrated scene depicts Beckton Riverside as a modern, well-connected urban area. A central street runs through, with people walking, cycling, and a red bus labelled "262." A cyclist uses a dedicated bike lane in the foreground. Both sides of the street are lined with green trees and sleek high-rise buildings. An elevated pedestrian bridge spans the road, linking footpaths on each side. On the right, a DLR sign and the Beckton Riverside label are shown, along with a sign to "Armada Way." The soft colour palette—greens, blues, and reds—gives the scene a clean, future-focused feel.
