👆 #Monday && #Music!.

I'll be honest, this is the only thing I ever heard by The Blasters, or Dave Alvin, that I have ever liked. Most of their stuff is roots rockabilly stuff that does nothing for me. But they did this one perfect gem of a pop song. (And just tonight I _finally_ figured out that one line in the chorus--it's "Little girl can we/Dance tonight")
The video doesn't do much for me either. Could use more coloured lights. It almost has a tiny mini-plot, but...not quite. Oh, well.
The Blasters released their eponymously titled second album in December 1981.

The world has lost a great dude. I met #DavidInnocencio years ago via a Yahoo music group & we bonded over music. He was a huge fan of bands like #TheBlasters, #LosLobos,& #X & a vast array of related but he was also, like me, into every stripe of music. In 1996 David started #TheBeatWithin, a non-profit mag that gave a voice to incarcerated youth and a place to share their stories & poetry. Y’all quit dying.

I'm 60, and have seen more than my share of concerts, but
I was just thinking that out of probably more than a hundred shows, my all-time favorite was #theblasters just a handful of years ago, at [the late] Hodi's Half Note in #FortCollins #Colorado.
Maybe it was the beer. Maybe it was the small venue, packed with what appeared to be "my tribe" - maybe they were just amazing.
Old dudes just walked up to the stage quietly, and just RIPPED into "Long White Cadillac" and I didn't stop bouncing until the end. I had bruises everywhere, was soaked in beer, thought I surely got tinnitus (I didn't) - goddamn it was GLORIOUS.
*4-11-44* by #theblasters is an amazing record, that transcends the genre.
Have you given it a spin, lately? Perhaps you should!
One of my all time #AmericanMusic heroes, real life genius, and just a damn sweet guy in a gruff exterior #PhilAlvin of #TheBlasters has been ailing and could use some #SweetRelief...Chip in if you can w/ the preeminent #MusiciansAid org
