Being a huge fan of some of Gilliam's earlier retro-futuristic, dystopian films, I have to admit
The Zero Theorem didn't sit right with me the first time around. Just watched it again, and liked it much better this time.
It's a somewhat challenging film to see because of the bombardment of visual and audible impressions you get throughout it. But then again, that's part of the message. While the first impression of the world Gilliam has created for the film seemed chaotic and disconnected from real life, I now rather think it's a very accurate, though artistic depiction of the corporate-controlled, advertising-driven society we've created for ourselves.
The film has many layers though, and requires several watchings to really sink in.
