Somewhat remarkably this unholy combination _almost_ works.

Windows 11 ARM laptop running emulated x86 TI Connect software from 2013 → USB-C port → USB-C to A cable → USB serial cable → 9-pin to 25-pin adapter → TI-GRAPH LINK cable → TI-89.

It sees the connected TI-89, but when I press the the Select button it hangs. :sadmac:

Screenshot of the TI ScreenCapture program running with a Select TI Device window on top of it. The window lists COM ports. COM7 is identified as Gray Cable with TI-89 connected.Photo of my laptop and TI-89 connected with the cables described in the post.

I got a working toolchain. Now I just need one of the silver USB GraphLink cables to be able to transfer software to it. (if you have one you don't need let me know)

It's pretty impressive that ticalc.org/ is still online and still hosting archives of old ti.com mailing lists. Here's me a bit over 27 years ago 😬#old #ticalc

You can't do this easily in BASIC. It's too slow. You have to move it
pixel by pixel. That's 16 pixels which need to move fast enough to look
like it's moving. I have tried a similar thing and gave up because BASIC
is too slow (and I don't know ASM....Yet).

I hate that Texas Instruments has figured out a way to make me forgive them for ruining their calculators: with awful dad joke names. http://www.datamath.org/Story/BTS_2024.htm #calculators #ticalc

One can find some interesting things on Goodwill's online store every now and then. Things like a boxed set of the TI Graph Link software and adapter for DOS/Windows and Macintosh. #ticalc #calculator #texasinstruments
