DB has now confirmed that they've deployed ETCS (balises, I guess) for automatic national system transition at the Frankfurt (Oder)-Rzepin border: rynek-kolejowy.pl/wiadomosci/s

The old Biebrza (a Warsaw-Gdynia via Czeremcha, Białystok, Ełk direct train, now split into two in Białystok) may be gone, but you can still find direct long way around ICs in Poland :P - here you can see the Lubomirski, 1044 km in just over 11 hrs from Kraków to Szczecin via Zawiercie (this detour due to engineering works), the Central Trunk Line, Warsaw and the Tricity

Okay, so now that I've looked into VagonWeb, it turns out it's only a separate train until Bohumín, where it joins the existing EN Chopin to Munich and EN Slovakia to Prague. That makes a lot more sense XD

So, as I imagine is becoming a regular #RailwayNewYear activity for me, I am Takt hunting. Which is to say, I'm trawling #PLK timetables to see how well #PKPIC's boasts of the increasing number of Takt relations are reflected in the actual timings (having realized that expanding to something similar to mastodon.com.pl/@HaTetsu/11514 would be rather too time-consuming right now). The south is currently rather disrupted by the twin worksites at Katowice station and Kraków-Kozłów, but getting into the 200s, we have our first result!
The (Białystok-)Warsaw-Łódź-Wrocław relation, also known as line P15 in the 2035 network draft, is now almost fully 2h Takt until Ostrów Wielkopolski! (EDIT: In the other direction, there's equal spacing from Wrocław until the 3pm train, at which point things get somewhat messed up and only get evened out around Sieradz) Getting equal spacing on the Ostrów-Wrocław leg has proven beyond PLK's ability at this time, which is understandable - a single-track section, further encumbered due to an ongoing closure on its twin running via Międzybórz Sycowski and, of course, the Gordian knot of the three-track western approach to Wrocław Główny where traffic from seven directions has to fit all work against the planners.

In other #RailwayNewYear news, it does indeed look like pretty much all Poland-Vienna ECs have been extended from Hbf to Westbahnhof

I'm only now really going through the PLK tables (got work, rest and that other project that turns out just doesn't wanna wait xp) and holy, somehow I'd missed the news about EuroNight Carpatia, a Przemyśl-Prague/Budapest/Munich via Vienna night train (Czech couchette in the Prague part, Polish sleeper to Budapest, Polish both to Munich).

Running a *second* night train Kraków-Vienna-Munich is certainly a choice, especially since from what I recall these can't serve Vienna very well as they have to traverse the Westbahn at night to not get into the way of RJXs. Better than dealing with DB for more than absolutely necessary, I guess.

More interesting is that they decided to have it pull into Kędzierzyn-Koźle and do a runaround with the loco instead of using the perfectly cromulent connecting curve that ought to be available there

#WhatsMissing : :kb_kurswagen: a through carriage in :nightjet: 40469 - :pkpic: EC 59 #Galicja - :uz: Ш 52.

(Paris Est 19:12, Strasbourg 23:42 - Frankfurt(Main) Süd 03:14-03:19 - 08:26) Berlin Hbf 08:52, Frankfurt(Oder) 09:47-09:50, Rzepin 10:09-10:12, Krakow Glovni 16:02-16:19, Rzeszow 17:41-17:47 - Przemyśl 18:48 (- 20:32 Львів 01:21-01:43 - Київ Пас 8:44)

UZ has rolling stock eligible for this route and the timetable is actually perfect for this through carriage, there's a dining car at day time for food, enough time for the Schengen border checks in Przemyśl. Would be an amazing winner but I fear times for re-establishing through carriages on any line are over for a long time.

PKP Intercity announced new international trains in 2025/26 timetable
kolejowyportal.pl/ambitne-plany-rozwoju-oferty-miedzynarodowej-pkp-intercity/ (www.rynek-kolejowy.pl/wiadomosci/pkp-intercity-wiecej-pociagow-we-wszystkich-kierunkach-zagranicznych--122776.html? Sources do not absolutely match anything)
- Seventh pair of Berlin-Warszawa-Express
- This pair will fill the gap around 3pm from Warsaw, and thus will introduce consistent 2h frequency on the route
- Przemyśl - Wrocław - Berlin night train (what)
- This train will include a group from Chełm via Warsaw and Łódź to Berlin (I do not understand this cooking session vros)
- 2 pairs from Wrocław to Leipzig via Horka, skipping Zgorzelec and Dresden entirely because of lacking electrified route
- 1 pair will start from Kraków, and another pair from Przemyśl
- There are some rumours about these trains potentially being just yet another coach groups of domestic trains from Southeastern Poland to West and Middle Pomerania (Wrocław Główny will surely accept even more trains involving shunts [no it won’t])
- New train from Wrocław and Kraków to Vienna, same basis as EC 102/103 202/203 Danubius
- EC 202/203 Danubius gets extended to Poznań, introducing a direct train for that city to Vienna
- New coach groups in EN Chopin
- Przemyśl - Prague
- Wrocław - Bratislava - Budapest (probably not happening)
- Przemyśl - Munich
- More trains to Ukraine from Przemyśl and Chełm, no real details
- One new pair from Szczecin or Zielona Góra via Warsaw to Vilnius, and second from Suwałki of all places to Vilnius, in the same model as IC Hańcza (polish train terminates in Mockava, transfer to 1520mm gauge LTG train)
anyway, powerpoint slides below but they do not make any sense to me and do not match the articles really either
