@sberson The current beginner box for D&D5, "Heroes of the Borderlands", has very good reviews and should contain everything needed to begin playing.
I would suggest that to start (again).
There are also slightly updated takes on the old rulesets, for example Shadowdark or Dungeon Crawl Classic, and of course you can also use the old rulesets just fine to DM yourself, but I agree that finding games will be a lot easier with D&D5 as most people play that.

In my never-ending project to improve my friends’ experience playing TTRPGs at my table, while also keeping it stupid simple for my lazy ass, I finally got an iPad mount for my tripod so virtual players can feel more like they’re here in person.

The most annoying part was getting the long threaded central screw on the top half of the mount to screw into the bottom half while keeping the two side stabilizing bars in line with their holes.

I made this map back as a teenager. I believe it was. Anyway, I can’t remember the name. But I do know that several of my friends used the friggin hell out of this map.
I’m trying to remember the name of the game. And I know somebody out here will remember it. It was a computer game, not a TTRPG. And it was a space game. Those are systems. And jump points or something like that between them.
