#no2x proved that miners and businesses don’t control bitcoin.

#uasf proved that developers don’t control bitcoin.

If you really aren't willing to take a "I have no idea the extent of the damage this could do, but Imma do it anyways" mindset, you aren't ready for a UASF

Happy #UASF and bitcoin Independence Day. If you haven’t read the blocksize war yet, do.

It’s up there in the top 5 #Bitcoin books and explains why today may be celebrated as a holiday in decades to come.

A great listen if you want to get a better technical understanding of #URSF as well as #UASF.

In 2017, miners attempted to assert control over the #Bitcoin protocol, and failed thanks to #BIP148 / #UASF.

Later, exchanges attempted to assert control over the protocol, and failed again (#NO2X).

In 2021, developers attempted to assert control over the protocol by reverting to BIP9, and reintroducing and enforcing the miner veto, after the community came to consensus on BIP8.

It's not entirely clear if that failed or succeeded. But it should receive the same reaction: complete resistance.

@michaelfolkson I foresee a time when large "stake" holders will campaign for #bitcoin proof of stake. They will claim Austrian, "Hayek - Mises " economics are just views projected onto Bitcoin by current toxic maximalist and not actually what Satoshi wanted.

Morons like Peter will accept this and promote to the masses, while trillionaires spin up enough nodes to prevent forever another #uasf

This of course will make Bitcoin even stronger. It'll be fine....

Don't forget and take the history of #bitcoin for granted.

Confused and a bit late to the party.

Slushpool is the first miner to signal support. We're waiting for more. But *what* are we waiting for?

I don't fully get how mining pools are governed. This doesn't feel like user activated soft fork.

Are plebs at mercy of mining pool 'corporate' decisions? Or do individual miners within the pool get to tilt the direction of the pool?

@rusty @harding Rusty, I'm happy to change the wording if you think it could be improved. Please suggest a specific improvement if you have one. I am actively encouraging people with opposition to post a NACK. I did this today on the ##uasf IRC channel

If you support a BIP 8 (1 year, LOT=true) UASF please join ##uasf on IRC. Fighting through the obfuscation, politics and ego wars is torture but we do need to finalize a timetable that everyone is happy with as soon as is possible. And I'm directing all the noise to other channels to keep ##uasf relatively noise free.

UASF (LOT=true) kick off meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) 19:00 UTC on ##uasf IRC channel lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipe

Bitcoin is not controlled by miners, see history of #uasf movement.

Also, "wastes" energy by creating hardest money ever, as opposed to military-idustrial-complex-based fiat (measure it's "waste").

Miners has incentive to use cheapest electricity, starting to use vented gas:
