Countering #Rehabilitation of Those who Participated in the #Holocaust and Holocaust-era Crimes

Attempts to restore the reputations of Holocaust-era #criminals and individuals and organizations that promoted Holocaust-era crimes are increasingly frequent. We must ensure honest engagement with Holocaust history. The Dialogue is working on this topic with a guidance paper jointly developed by Dialogue members #USHMM and Stiftung Denkmal after consulting international experts.

Working on linking our copy of the USHMM/ITS digitalized scans with Bad Arolsen. Thankfully, our files fontain the docIds of Arolsen, so it is relatively easy. After #plw2024 I've found my #provenance rabbit hole - linking #wikidata items of people related to Achim's #loviscorinth #paintings - collectors, gallery owners ... a world of family connections! That said, you inevitably also add one Holocaust victim after another and learn more about them. Some information only exists because of #terezin #ushmm & other databases. Still hoping to find an unidentified collector so I can do my part to give a person a face – not just the "Holocaust victim" label.
