A recent addition to our TTRPG selection is this like-new 2017 Mouse Guard roleplaying game, 2nd edition rulebook. Also, if the '80s-vintage Marvel Super-Heroes RPG is your jam, I've got a handful of game supplements, some never-opened!

Not a gamer? Stop and explore. There's much more in-store!

My photo of a Mouse Guard™ Roleplaying Game book, by Luke Crane & David Petersen.

An open mouthed viper is attacked by a caped, sword-wielding mouse warrior who is barely a mouthful for the snake.

The front of this books dust jacket is illustrated with wide top & bottom borders of brown with tan filigree.

Independence from monarchy is the reason for the season. Independence means taking responsibility for the system. 'We the People' are part of the system. Our job is to Vote!

Happy Independence Day, U.S.A!

248 years ago, the baby United States told England to bugger off. "We don't like being ruled by a king, Monarchy sucks!" And we set up a Congress intended to represent the voice & will of 'We the People.

We would elect people to be our voice in Congress. We would elect our President. Our Congress & our President would work things out as 'We the People' wished.

If things weren't working out, there would be a Supreme Court to help make sense of it all.An image of white text on black, as follows:

The system worked pretty well most of that time. It's been adjusted along the way, trying to reduce corruption, trying to make things better for more of 'We the People.' Nothing is perfect. It's designed for change. Our ability to make change is being eroded.

'We the People' are part of the system. Independence means taking on some responsibility. The system only works if all the parts do their job. If we want the system to work we have to do our part. It takes time, a little bit here-a little bit there.

For over 200 years it's been our system to maintain and parts are going bad. Vote while you can, before the whole thing breaks down.

Happy Independence Day.

Pete Rose, or "Charlie Hustle," isn't officially recognized for his feats on the ball diamond, which he earned. His un-official activities got him banned-for-life from Major League Baseball & its Hall of Fame.
America's pastime has a code of honor.

If it's good enough for the MLB, why shouldn't it apply to something as important as President of the United States of America?

A photo of two Pete Rose books. He's in uniform for the Cincinnati Reds on both covers.

"Pete Rose's Winning Baseball"
A grainy photo shows the titular all-star, in-game, about to connect a swing, the ball mere inches from his bat.

"Pete Rose: My Story" by the author & Roger Kahn.
An in-game photo of the subject, arms raised in celebration – batting helmet held high in his right hand, number one finger raised on his dusty-gloved left hand. He isn't smiling but wears an expression of mild satisfaction.

All are by Bruce Nash and Allan Zullo.
Each contains a Special Bonus of 45 Trading Cards! Clockwise from top left, the books are as follows:

little BIG LEAGUERS.
Compiled by Bernie Ward.

Red with white and black titling. Four posed, black and white photos of unnamed child baseball players are arranged in a square with a circular color photo of each in the outermost corners. Triangular green shading divides each pair of photos, to give the impression of a baseball diamond.

More little BIG LEAGUERS.
Compiled by Tom Muldoon.

Yellow with red and black titling, designed in the same manner as the first book.

It's Dayton Airshow weekend!
I shot this photo during Friday practice. I'm zoomed in all the way, the planes are fast, the air is hazy, the heat distorts the light... A rather challenging photo session.

We've got a lot of aviation and other books in here. If you're in town, stop and check them out!

This old bookrack – frail, but still in use – is in the earliest photos from the shop. 80+ year old retailer bookshelves. I've never really stopped to appreciate them in this aspect. Through the years, we've lost a few to wear and this one's fading. There are 5 more still in use, thankfully in better condition.

Is this a meme reply in a 76 year old comic book? Is it proof that time travel exists?

No. Of course not!

I couldn't resist poking some fun when I found this last night.

Todays feature is one of 500 copies in an un-numbered hardcover.

The book collects authorized interviews with members of the experimental music group Einstürzende Neubauten (translation: Collapsing New Buildings).

An acquired taste, rarely heard by accident, & well worth an intentional listen–if your mood fits.

An image showing the front and back cover of a book.

Front cover, on the left:

"EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN –
NO BEAUTY WITHOUT DANGER,"
by MAX DAX and ROBERT DEFCON.

A humanoid petroglyph – the band's official logo, said to be from a cave drawing – is positioned below the titling of this glossy white hardcover book.

Below the glyph is a cut-and-paste collage of random manufactured items and human hands, representing the band and their instruments built from scrap.

Back cover, on the right:

EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN.
MAX DAX / ROBERT DEFCON.

NO BEAUTY WITHOUT DANGER tells the true story of Einstürzende Neubauten. Blixa Bargeld, Andrew Unruh, Alexander Hacke, Mark Chung, FM Einheit, Rudolf Moser, Jochen Arbeit and numerous other key players speak on dignity, on self-deter- mination and manipulation, on creative discipline and drug excess, on Kango hammers and architectural criticism. Max Dax and Robert Defcon recorded and compiled this conversation based on 43 authorized interviews. Much myth and media hype is revealed as such. At the same time, Einstürzende Neubauten allow deep insight into their working methods, sound research and the band's history - all in their own words.

304 PAGES / INCLUDING PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED PHOTOS, NOTES AND DOCUMENTS / LIMITED EDITION.

In the '70s, Dad humbly advertised occasional offerings in Rocket's Blast ComiCollector (RBCC); a fanzine of renown that ran from the '60s to the '80s. This photo is one of those nearly 50 year old listings. It's an interesting look back at comic collecting before the Internet. Naturally, the listing is no longer valid.

Large red hollow wireframe three-dimensional block letters declare "VOID" the contents of an expired full-page, typed, black and white mail-order listing of dozens of Golden-Age comics, offered for sale in the 1970s at "Bonnett's – Dealers in Out-of-Print Publications."

Sharing this because anything featuring "Dick and Jane" is uncommon (even reprinted collections) & folks request them regularly.

Hurry in, before it's gone!

A photo of a book; the "Storybook Treasury of Dick and Jane and Friends."

The square format book is a warm yellow color. 7 water-color illustrated ovals decorate the cover. The large center oval contains the title characters, 2 curious young children. The other 6 ovals border the first semi-circularly, 3 to a side; clockwise from top left, they are "Father," "Mother," "Puff" (their cat), "Tim" (a teddy-bear), "Sally" (their baby sister), and "Spot" (their dog).
