"The Devil Went Down to Georgia" is a song written and recorded by American music group #CharlieDanielsBand and released on their 1979 album #MillionMileReflections. The song is written in the key of #DMinor. Although uncredited, #VassarClements originally wrote the basic #melody an #octave lower, in a tune called "Lonesome Fiddle Blues" released on Clements' self-titled 1975 album on which Charlie Daniels played #guitar.

Clements has been dubbed the Father of Hillbilly Jazz, an improvisational style that blends and borrows from swing, hot jazz, and bluegrass along with roots also in country and other musical traditions.
